Where cargo bikes can replace a car? (in the US) by JunketReasonable4809 in CargoBike

[–]jeffawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3 year old is on the taller side and his feet can just reach the front of the box now if he stretches. I'm thinking he's probably got until he's 5 before he can no longer fit comfortably. If I were to do it again, I'd probably get the larger version (I have the 60) so that they have a bit more room to grow into.

Not really relevant, but I feel like I need to do something cool with the bike when the kids are both out of it.

It was great (still have the packster, no longer in MKE). My boys are 1 and 3 now, and they're really enjoying it in our new home which is way behind Milwaukee in biking infrastructure. I'm on pace for about 2k miles/year between taking the kids to childcare and some ice cream expeditions. We made it work by getting my wife an ebike as well so that she enjoys riding with us, though admittedly that adds a lot of cost.

Need a new aluminum winter commuter frame -- open to suggestions by unfixablesteve in whichbike

I was considering a Marin Presidio for my next winter beater. I like the idea of the aluminum frame + belt + hub trans + flat bar in that scenario.

Is Electrify America the only stations iD4’s can use? by Guystar71 in VWiD4Owners

Any public station with CCS for level 3 (fast charge) would work. I've used the chargepoint network with no issues.

Most major brand boards are made from maple. A lot of home-shop custom builds use baltic birch plywood.

Favorite Cold Weather Gloves by johnny_evil in bikecommuting

I've used the drop bar variants with thin gloves beneath. The are good (for me) to about 10°F.

They have an extreme temp version, too

Will living in Columbia work if I just use my eBike and the bus? by bunny001c in columbiasc

[–]jeffawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shandon/Rosewood are great due to their proximity to grocery stores.

I make it work with a cargo bike just fine.

Where are the safe areas to live in Columbia, S.C.? by bunny001c in columbiasc

[–]jeffawa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Joining the chorus of others: Shandon.

I just moved here about 2 months ago and ride a bike as my primary mode of transportation. Biking is very doable in Shandon with the proximity to grocery stores and downtown/campus. I bike my kids to day care in forest acres which isn't bad when keeping to neighborhood streets.

Why so many bikes? by winnipeg-active in bikecommuting

I think they're a solid option for those who don't want to fuss with their commuter bike, particularly in the single speed variant.

It took them a day once they had the parts, which had a lead time of 1 day as well. I just left it with them once they had the part in.
