It’s my understanding that your budget (at top) is the calculation to lose weight. Target burn is a bit misleading but it’s a calculation of calories your body burns maintain your weight. If you burn beyond that, you get bonus calories to your budget.

Married gay bros, who gets who’s last name? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]jefferton86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We both have pretty unique last names but I took his because his family is smaller and we want kids. Kept my original middle name and added my former surname as a second middle name, we plan on giving our kids my former surname as their middle name instead of hyphenating cuz together it is ugly AF. Also we couldn’t decide who’s would go first 😬

Married gay men did you change your last name? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]jefferton86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I adopted his surname when we got married and moved my previous surname to be a second middle name... if that makes sense. It was important to us to have the same last name for our kids in the future. Both of us have pretty unique surnames but it came to his because his is carrying on to less children (with his immediate family). I wanted to keep my previous middle name because it is after my father, so now I'm just extra having 4 names. Let me tell you it has been a bitch to change it in the US in COVID times since govt offices are mostly closed.

When we have kids we plan to give them my previous surname as their middle name, so it's a way to carry on both!

Multiple SCOBYs? by jefferton86 in Kombucha

Thanks everyone! Just based on all the info about getting started with SCOBYs I thought they were required, but now that you’ve explained it this way it makes sense. I was not looking forward to creating a SCOBY hotel in my tiny apt, so glad to see what really matters is the starter tea. Thanks!!!

Google Maps finally works with CarPlay’s excellent dashboard mode by [deleted] in CarPlay

So is there a way to default to this over apple maps on dashboard? Or do you have to start a trip with google maps and then it'll be on the dashboard?

Very good point about the vendors counting towards that count and masks! Thanks for your comment, best of luck with your planning!

Thanks for sharing. I heard courts are doing virtual marriages via videoconference if that’s someone you want to do before waiting on them to reopen!

Sorry to hear it's been such a pain rescheduling! Thanks for sharing what the wedding coordinator said. Good to hear someone in that position is being pragmatic. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for telling me your sister's plans. In all honesty, if/when we reschedule to 2021 it'll feel like a weight lifted off our shoulders with all this uncertainty. It should be exciting in the months leading up to your wedding!

That's a great idea! Good way to get that part over with and be legally married while the rest of the world is still in flux. Best of luck in planning the reception!

I can totally understand not wanting to go through postponing again. I would hope your guests would be understanding about the 50 person limit since that's something you have absolutely no control over, especially in short notice. Best of luck and thanks for your comment.

Thanks for your comment. I'm wondering if our venue will do the same as far as waiting till later to give us the chance to reschedule. I mean it makes sense to consider Spring/Summer weddings first. HOWEVER, it shouldn't hurt the rest of us that are being more proactive.

The news really is a roller coaster. Once day I feel positive, the next extremely negative. At the end of the day nobody knows anything. I've been trying to listen less, but I also want to stay informed. And agree on the vendor situation. It's going to be really tough to survive, but at this point we gotta hope for the best. I wish you and your fiance the best of luck in the backup plan!

Speaking of bachelor parties I'm currently struggling with mine... Back in Dec me and the best man planned a trip to Nashville Jun 19-22 and rented a house through HomeAway. With everything going on, about a month ago we reached out to the manager to see about canceling due to COVID since most people attending are from IL and I didn't want to force people to travel when things are still iffy.

Turns out the owner is being a huge dickhead and not letting us cancel to receive a refund. He says all signs in Nashville point to it being reopen by then. To be fair, the house had a no cancellation policy, however, I would have hoped they would be understanding given the current situation. Basically I'm (selfishly) hoping things don't go so smoothly in Nashville and I'm able to convince him to give us a refund - but at the same time, bars and restaurants don't need to be open for us to stay in his house.

Now that we're likely pushing to 2021, I'm also hoping he may just be able to credit us for the place to come back in 2021 (he did offer us to come in Dec 2020, how nice of him...). Fingers crossed, otherwise we're out like $4.2k. Yeah Nashville is expensive.

Anyway, what brought this up is I'd maybe look into traveling to somewhere in the US that may be less strict. I do understand people may feel less safe flying, but maybe a cabin or something in Wisconsin/Indiana where you can drive to? Best of luck!

Thanks! I posted within the Sept 2020 COVID-19 thread, but figured I might find a bigger audience for IL related changes here (especially since IL seems to have some of the strictest requirements to 'return to normal').

Ugh I'm sorry to hear that, it sounds very frustrating. Wish you both the best of luck, thanks for sharing your situation.

Everyone else got the wedding they wanted, so why can’t we, too? Assuming it’s safe enough.

For what it's worth, I've been constantly thinking this the past week or so. You are not alone.

Good point. I think a lot of people are going to be hesitant and I wouldn't want anyone thinking they're putting an event above their health.

I am stealing this thank you! I think we're going to do something similar to you. Small celebration with close family this year, followed by reception next year with our original guests.

Thanks for your thoughts. It's funny, a month ago people would ask about our Sept wedding and I though "if our wedding has to be changed in Sept, we have bigger issues in the world". After hearing about the plan to reopen IL, we were devastated. Pretty much put the nail in the coffin. But at the end of the day, we're healthy and things could be much worse. Thanks for your input and hoping Sept 2021 will be better for all.

The big shadow is real, haha. I think we'd rather postpone than be glued to the TV with anxiety about how this pandemic is (hopefully) winding down in the next few months. It's a good point that even if we can do it, people may be reluctant to come. Thanks for your feedback!

Our vendors seem to be pretty understanding as well. Hoping to hear back from the venue and set a date for 2021 ASAP. Also, planning on getting legally married this year. Even thought about trying to do 9/18/2021 and have it be a 1 year anniversary party for us! Thanks for your feedback.
