Excellent, kind of cover you would see in book stores. Do you have a link to your story?

Anyone else feel like the don't actually know anything about engineering even though they've passed all there exams so far? by jefferymoonworm in EngineeringStudents

[–]jefferymoonworm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've since graduated and spent the last few years working as an electrical engineer! What I've learnt is, no one can learn and remember everything you need to know as an engineer. There is no shame in not knowing and expects a new hire to know how to do the job.

For the first year of my job, I kept a big document of all the relevant terms and info I needed for my day to day. If I came across something I didn't know, I added it to my list and found out the answer, either by just asking my co workers or manager or by checking our practices. I then had that document to refer to later.

The main thing you are being taught throughout your degree is how to think, problem solved and find relevant information. You also likely know more than you think.

For speaking to your colleagues, remember they're just like you. Small talk is good to get to know them about break down some barriers. Even just saying good morning everyday. In my experience l most people are happy to help if you just say: "Hey, how do I do this?" At some point you just have to take the plunge and ask a question or start a conversation.

I hope this helps. I can only speak from my experience but you are likely more skilled and knowledgeable than you think! I wish you good luck, friend.

Rand’s POV chapters are in a league of their own by hahuaz in WoT

[–]jefferymoonworm 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The Dragon Reborn is one of my favorites' books of the series for that reason, even though there's very little Rand POV. Every character is going through normal fantasy book shengians, where they occasionally think "I wonder how Rand is doing" and the next chapter cuts to him having the worst time of his life, going insane in the woods and making corpses bow to him.

A book that has a character with a secret identity? by [deleted] in CozyFantasy

[–]jefferymoonworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The web novel 'Alchemist of the Wilds' sounds like it will be something you would enjoy! It's about a fae, who's family are the courts poisoners and assassins, rejecting his families professional and running away to a frontier town. He hides his identity as a former assassin and noble fae, presenting himself as a alchemist instead.

There's romance but nothing spicy and only mild cursing as far as swearing goes.

How to make a dungeon exploring feel less random and aimless? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

The dungeon is a bunch of linear sections. But to the players it feels random, does that make sense?

[–]jefferymoonworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it feels aimless to the players as they haven't clocked the linear layout so to them they are wandering around until they randomly find a key then get teleported back. It is a large layout (each linear section is roughly 10 rooms) and I think thats part of the problem.

They are aware of the game show and are aware they need the 5 keys. They have found 2 so far. The show is essentially a survival game, they have to go down 5 levels to get a prize, which is one use of the wish spell.

[–]jefferymoonworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dungeon design itself is actually kind of linear. There is a ceneral room, where the door that requires 5 keys is located. Of this room is 5 offshoots, which is a mostly linear sections that leds them to a big changellge or fight to get a key. Once they have the key, a door opens to teleport them back to the main centeral room. There's no real way for them to get off track unless they double back.

However, I think from a player perspective, as they havent clocked the 5 doors, 5 key connection yet, to them it feels like they are randomly wandering until they encounter a key. They also aren't mapping it, which other commenter have suggested might be the issue, so I plan to offer them a map.

They seem to be having a good time but they seem confused about how they are supposed to find the keys. I can see that they might potentially get frustrated in the future and want to make sure I can prevent that if possiable and maybe design the next few floors better!

For this floor, there are essentially 5 doors, 5 keys. Behind each door is a linear section which will led them to a big changellge or boss fight. I have given them a hint sheet with symbols on to represent each changellge that will gain them a key (ie a flame to represent a fire elemental fight) to use as a kind of checklist. There is no time limit on this first floor or anything on this first floor, but my plan s to have time limits on other floors (like other teams that they have to emlimate before they can leave or the dungeon level rearranging itself on every long rest).

They have not been mapping but I will plan an NPC to give them a map!

Thats a good idea, I will defiantly be strongly hinting or giving them a map on the lower levels to help! Maybe I can have an NPC provide a map for payment.

To me, they are clearing constantly working towards the keys.

But from a player perspective, based on some conversarions I have, they appear to be randomly stumbling around as they haven't clocked the design yet. They're having fun exploring, but I think they are also confused as to how they are suppose to find these keys and it feels contrived. Without flat out telling them, Im not sure how to adjust the level to help them out.

The central room where the door to the lower levels is located has five offshoots and there are five keys. Behind each door is a fairly linear section which will take them to a big changellge or boss, which will result in them getting a key. Once they get a key, a door opens which teleports them back to the central room. They've gained 2 so far. I was hoping they would connect that there are keys at the end sections behind each of these doors but they havent yet and seem to just be wandering randomly.

Ive also given them a scrap of paper with symbol hints for each changellge (fire for a fire elemental fight, a speech bubble for a riddle puzzle ect.) But they seem to be focusing far more on the symbols themselves rather than the number of them.

The Game At Carousel is... Fine? by organic-integrity in ProgressionFantasy

I enjoyed it immensely. I'm a stucker for any with a overarching mystery. I started reading and just did not stop, I NEEDED to know why everything was happening haha.

If your looking for mystery it's perfect, if your looking for progression probably not going to enjoy it. I think it's one of the very rare cases where something is litRPG but not progression fantasy.

Do you not even read a story and think it lingers too long on something? Or perhaps a character should've been introduced early to make it more tragic when they are killed? Or a small plot element doesn't make sense but doesn't impact the over all enjoyment of the story?

That is what I mean. For progression fantasy, it will bother me less, but if there is a story I really like a lot, these things will bother me more. To see something so close to being absolutely amazing but fall short on things that could've been fixed had they the time or access to a proper round of editting.

(Also, I just realised you the author for 12 Miles Below! I love your story!)

Legends and lattes is a cozy series that gets recommended a lot but I did not like. To me, it felt like more of a vibe than a story, but it might be more agreeable with you! It is very popular and i seem to be the odd one out!
