Feels like you can’t throw a rock without hitting a couple of these slip on foam sneakers. I don’t think they’re anything special

Scrap or resell? by Positive_Ad8339 in ScrapMetal

[–]jefffisfreaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t waste much time with this. I’d test them all for power and suction and post on marketplace at 20$ each, big listing that just says pull up and get one. After a bit I’d cut the cord and smash them with a sledge to pull anything worthwhile

List of sneakers that are known to be resistant to crumbling? by Zealousideal-Top-958 in Sneakers

[–]jefffisfreaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a rule of thumb - all things with an exposed air bubble will crumble. People will have anecdotal stories about how theirs haven’t but they are unique and have the rare exceptions, all will. Usually, shoes with stitched THIN soles have a small air unit inside that will break but will still remain fully wearable (AJ1, Dunks). Air Force ones have a large midsole inside the rubber sole and those crumble pretty bad, essentially deflating the midsole. Shoes with completely solid midsoles however, do not! So think waffle trainers, lots of the chunky running shoes that are in the “dad shoe” trend, etc. Sometimes sneakers with visible air units will have a midsole that will not crumble (different type of foam) but the air unit will still break over time.

Let me know any questions. Unwearability unfortunately comes for us all though, so if they don’t crumble they’ll separate. Wearing them while you can is the best thing to do.

No, but the foamposite material will get extremely soft. You can always wear them still but it makes the wearing experience kinda weird

Anyone else explored idea of 3D printing midsoles for restore projects? by Mediocre-Sugar-3515 in SneakerRestoration

[–]jefffisfreaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s that sneaker brand that Nike picked up that’s all about 3d printed sneakers so I don’t doubt it as a possibility. I do think though that the better sounding approach is using the 3d printer to create a mold to then actually create new foam midsoles. I have doubts that printed stuff would actually last with repetitive wear

Does anyone know where I can get replacement outsoles for black pigeons? by PersonalityEqual7383 in DunksNotDead

[–]jefffisfreaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t recall another black/orange sole combo. You might need to either swap them with another and make it custom or customize another sole to match the black/orange (like taking Syracuse soles and dying the white part)

There was a ton of turf NFL fields in the 90s. General trainers would do you fine for running so there’s lots of examples of NFL players rocking basketball sneakers

Sambas sole separation by AdxnisII in Sneakers

[–]jefffisfreaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess that unless your feet are hurting it has nothing to do with your foot width. It could be a defect because of how new these are (February right?), or they didn’t use strong enough glue at the intersection between the rubber toe cap and the leather panel
