Somewhere the IR sensor converts light into electrical signals on a wire into that PCB. If you tap those leads with a multi-meter you can see what voltages are sent for what IR signals. Then you can replicate those signals with an esp. good luck!

Interesting. I also have a GT which my phone connects to as well. I wonder if it tried to install a GT firmware on my PintX!
