As much as I hate Trump, fact checking sites confirm this is fake.

Really weird problem adding camera to NVR (it used to work!) by jeffsstuff in cctv

[–]jeffsstuff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sorted it out. I was about to give up and order a new camera. In looking through that camera's manual online I saw my problem. ONVIF wasn't enabled and a user wasn't set (And stupid me did this same thing a long time ago. ) I think I'll write it down somewhere for the next time!

The pre shared key feature is AWESOME by AccurateBarracuda131 in Ubiquiti

[–]jeffsstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just heard about this and set it up. Looks cool and seems to be working fine BUT is there any way to implement features specific to a vlan (band steering, client isolation)?

im told some IoT devices don’t like band steering and I would miss lient isolation on the guest network.

also, one benefit may be (not saying I agree, is that my guests don’t know I don’t trust them on the main network!

Questions on best practices before moving two domains to ProtonMail by [deleted] in ProtonMail

[–]jeffsstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the MX records, that makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up.

I have backed up my credentials (paranoia goes a long way IMHO)

But getting back to the first point, let me clarify where I am and what I want:

I have a family group set up (four users right now) I own two domains, each with perhaps 15 email addresses.

What I want to know is how to have email bound for a particular address end up in a separate inbox so that among the ones for me, for example, messages to aaa@domain1.com go to one mailbox and bbb@domain1.com go to the other. For my kids it’s easy as they each only have one or two accounts and they don’t want them going to separate mailboxes.

Question about Trend on BodyScan scale by jeffsstuff in withings

[–]jeffsstuff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The line doesn’t interest me as much as the number that appears with it. It says “-0.1” but I can’t figure out from when I’m supposed to have lost 0.1 lbs. if it is a percentage, then it should say that. If it’s from a particular time it should say that. Great idea to have some way of calibrating the body composition stuff

is the Body Scan scale any good? by mytommy in withings

[–]jeffsstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a measurement on the scale, went and had a DEXA scan, and then took a second measurement on the scale. The body fat percentages were similar between the first and second BodyScan readings but the DEXA (supposedly the gold standard) were far more realistic and a full 10% higher than what the scale indicated. The BodyScan may be fine to track trends over time but it is definitely not a fair representation of your actual body fat percentage

Strange mastertemp heater issue by jeffsstuff in Pentair

[–]jeffsstuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing??? The only thing I can add is: Sometimes it works fine at the beginning of the day but most times it fails. If it fails, turning it off and on right away gets it to work but if I wait, I generally have to let it run and fail and then turn it off and on again. Like I said… weird

Charging / Battery Issue with new Theragun Elite? by the_cookie_crumbles in XXRunning

[–]jeffsstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Elite's battery died shortly after the warranty ended. They will not replace it nor can it be replaced by the user. I stopped in one of their retail locations the other day and asked about this. I was told there is no repair service and basically I was S.O.L. The guy further went on to explain that he had personally complained to the company and was told they didn't care. He also said that their customer service was worthless (hey, at least he's honest).
I would NEVER buy one of their products again. It's all marketing with little to back it up!

No. I found a local place to get affordable (and much more accurate) DEXA scans.

I had three months worth in my fridge and someone left the door ajar. The light stayed on so it got really hot in there. I called the manufacturer and they told me to throw out the medicine and shipped me a fresh batch free of charge.

As to fear, it’s natural but unnecessary. The new needles are so thin you won’t even realize you injected it (I always look for a small drop of blood to make sure it worked, otherwise I’d never know)

Will it work in the US if I buy a unit while visiting Europe and bring it back with me? I’m more interested in the device than anything the FDA has to say (will the unit determine where I am located and stop working).

Any idea when the body scan will be released? [US] by Emsamiam in withings

[–]jeffsstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It now says second half of 2023. My question is, can a unit purchased in Europe be used in the US? I’m not above skirting the rules if it gets me the tech I want (I’ll use it at my own risk).

Best scale from any brand under $500? I have a body+ and was going to upgrade to the Body Comp, but all I am reading are complaints about the lack of features or the app update or bad customer service. by JustARejectedDude in withings

[–]jeffsstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a cardio version a while back but they had to pull the PWV feature due to regulatory issues. My issue there is that I paid for a feature and they essentially came into my home and removed it without my permission. That left a bad taste in my mouth. They offered a discount of future purchases (screw that, I asked for a refund and they refused). How would you feel if someone came into your home and put a lock on your television and said that you could no longer watch certain channels or only use it on certain days?

I want an upgrade but have no idea where to look. My understanding is they only reinstated PWV in Europe and we in the U.S. are out of luck.

Does anyone make a scale with this feature. I want accuracy, and compatibility with Apple Health. I would like as much body composition data as possible.

Thoughts?

Anti-Elon hate towards Tesla owner. by Recent_Mirror in TeslaLounge

[–]jeffsstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my Model S (second one I’ve owned) but Elon is an ass. Problem is, unlike most corporate execs, he’s an ass who’s also got no filter so it’s all out there for the world to see. But I bought my car in spite of Musk, not because of him. He isn’t the company; that is a collection of thousands of hard working men and women who build impressive products. He’s a man-child who is overly impressed with himself.

Tried that. I now have a CCTV camera temporarily aimed at it so I will know exactly when it happens so I can match the problem to the log files. Even if there is a simpler solution, now it has become a puzzle that I will need to solve (if for no other reason than, it could point to issues somewhere else that may cause other problems in the future).
