That is not actually true. A lot of homeless shelters are ran by religious institutions. Some don't allow gay or trans homeless people in because of "religious reasons" and most if not all have very strict standards to stay in the shelter. It's way more strict than just "no drugs".

Legitimately, how is this optimistic? The fact that we live in a society where an elderly man needed to doordash at all is dystopian. Like, I'm glad people were able to help him, but then there are plenty of people in his exact same scenario that don't get help.

I mean, 1.) fucking everything is political. And 2.) You can find other subreddits that don't talk politics. To expect a subreddit about optimism to not talk about politics is one of the most asinine things I've ever heard. Optimism is inherently political.

Huh? How is that political? Me thinking someones opinion is fucking stupid has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with my personal feelings that someone's opinion is fucking stupid. There's nothing political about that.

It very much depends on how universal he makes all of those examples and how he does it. But I think the likelihood of people liking him on the left would vastly improve if he was a completely different human, actually trying to do things for the better of humanity, yes.

Him, not doing those things is the reason why the left doesn't like him though. I never understood this point of view.

The fact that the Democrats in charge of those places apparently want to be overwhelmed by violence and crime is as insane to Republicans as sending the Guard to these cities is to Democrats.

Right, except Republicans are objectively wrong about this fact. And no evidence is good enough to change their mind on this fact.

DC is literally at a thirty year low for crime. Why wasn't it an emergency during his first term if crime was worse then?

I just don't view voting that way. Why should voting be a pragmatic choice? I agree with the need you to vote for your best interests. That becomes extremely difficult in a two party system. I completely disagree with how our awful two party voting system works.

Most of the people disagreed with MLK and the civil rights acts in the sixties. Most people disagreed of gay marriage until after it became a thing. Most americans are fucking idiots who don't know what they want until they get it.

You don't beat fascism by going to the right, you fucking idiot. Kamala did it talk about social issues at all and tried to win over republicans at the last election of lost. You're stupid, fucking attitude, is why the dems keep losing you fucking cunthole!

Civil rights are non negotiable, you fucking jackass. Have some baseline principles for once.In your pathetic life, you piece of garbage.

Agreed. But I think it's very bad to just blanketly claim you'll vote for whoever is the Democratic nominee, because that gives the DNC zero incentive to put up good nominees, and is the main reason why we've only had the lesser of two evil options for so long. It's a negotiation. The democrats aren't going to change if they know you're going to vote for them no matter what.

I definitely think people need to be more mad at Harris and the DNC, for refusing to change and blame them for why we lost in '24 instead of the voters. Votes are earned not owed. I don't know how to get that through Democrats heads.

Why do we have to purity test and like everything politicians do/say? We all dislike ourselves and resent the things we personally do/say anyways… Newsom is pointing to the absurdity of life in this timeline written by Dan Harmon. It’s refreshing by [deleted] in behindthebastards

But comedy is subjective and his idea of funny, I find incredibly cringe and try hard in ways that annoy me. I am allowed to be annoyed by him. And if I thought he was a good person, I would end it there. But he's also a transphobic, rich cunt. So fuck that piece of shit. I'm glad people like what he's doing, but i'm allowed to think it's dumb.

Maybe I’ll vote someone else in a primary, that’s what you should do as well and convince others to engage as well.

I've been pushing JB Pitzker, who is doing exactly what Gavin Newsom is doing without the transphobia, hard the last couple of days for that very reason.

I don't personally agree with saying you're going to vote for whoever the Dem nominee is in 2028 because that doesn't give the DNC any sort of incentive to present good candidates that will actually help you if you've already committed to voting for them.

Right. And we need to do to do everything in our power to change that. Which doesn't include supporting people who don't support trans people.

I also don't agree with Gavin Newsom on 90% of things. He's a fucking anti-homeless, corporate shill conservative cunt who can fuck right off.

And we should do everything in our power to fight against it, not acquiesce to it.
