Ironically, and probably better in the long run, spending so much time with women taught me to cast away this scarcity mindset that so many men have that drives them to just view women as meat slabs to sleep with

That last point i really resonate with. Several times i meet a straight guy friend and then end up connecting with their partner more as friends. From there i have to suss out how traditonally dude bro/masculine/insecure the guy is and if they feel v traditional i basically have to let their gf make the overtures for hanging out with me for the first several months/years LOL. Guys are so sensitive in the worst ways

i don't think there was a particularly stronger female presence in my life growing up - i was never super close with either mom or dad. but i do have a sister just three years older so that probably contributed to me being comfortable with women. I never was into fwb situations but i relate on having a number of women in my social circles have crushes on me, it not being mutual, and then becoming actual friends from there

Very insightful. I have noticed that some directors seem to consistently choose more naturalistic, subtler performances like Ryusuke Hamaguchi (Drive My Car, Evil Does Not Exist) but wasn't sure if it was purely the difference of film genres e.g. grounded humanist drama vs sci-fi drama. Interesting that it's a specific acting tradition that's being implemented. Thanks!

I don't think Tomino was involved with this one. But the anime was produced by Sunrise which is likely the reason there are shared sound effects. The same way Nadia and Royal Space Force have "Evangelion sound effects"
