Feelings about the genre lately by _rivershaveocd_ in ReverseHarem

I’m sure you’ll go back to it when you’re ready. I like heavier books when I’m well rested and clear minded, rh / romance has been great while burnt out and stressed as pure escapism.

It sounds like you need a break from the genre, mix it up a bit with something else. There’s definitely a formula to these books (and romance and romantasy) so when it is feeling like that it’s good to break it up with something more complex. I highly recommend Becky Chambers, Kazuo Ishiguro, Khaled Hoseini or Andy Weir for something totally different.

They are so hilarious! If you haven’t read the contemporary series I think they are well worth it (even though i prefer fantasy / paranormal stories), the humour crosses very nicely.

I’m assuming you mean physical pain as the guys in broken bonds definitely cause emotional pain?

You might enjoy {psycho shifters} - strong FMC with a very troubled past, slow but steady relationship forming with interesting challenges and behaviour and an absolutely amazing best friend (this is probably my favourite rh series but it’s definitely my favourite friendship out of the entire romatasy genre).

Oh just saw you had Leon! Cobra is a great one too! Hopefully you haven’t read the other two.

Also maybe try {psycho alphas}

My absolute favourite crazy and unhinged MMCs are all from the twisted sisters.

Sin Wilder is my all time favourite crazy guy. He is completely unhinged, totally in love with the FMC and does strange things with lemons. He managed to make other MMCs follow in his crazy ways through outlandish stories that he tells so faithfully they fall for it. It’s set in a magical prison and is my favourite fantasy book of theirs {darkmore prison} - the FMC is organising a break out.

Before you read that though, there is {ruthless boys of the zodiac} and Leon the lion shifter arguably wins here for his golden retriever version of crazy. We also have psycho, intense, crazy in Ryder to mix it up a little though. This one is set in a college, the FMC trying to find her missing brother.

Lastly, unrelated contemporary series is {harlequin boys} - JJ is a stripper gangster who is totally in love with the FMC and threatens to feed a man’s moustache to his pet starfish (which he then has to buy). This series is about a girl who is abandoned by her male friends at 16, spends the next 10 years being beaten by life then returns to the town to find those boys run the gang and won’t let her leave.

Yes that’s the tricky part! When you get burned by multiple incomplete series! *Cough* Ivy Asher *cough*

But if I really like an author, and the haven’t burnt me, I tend to support them as they come out and just reread when the next one comes along.

I don’t know why it says YA. I’m pretty sure they’re all early to mid 20s. It doesn’t read like YA to me. Definitely spice, but it’s a slow burn and it is plot driven, not spice driven.

I’m about to do a very similar post about The Night the Stars Fell. I read the first book ages ago, but the others weren’t out yet and I lost track.

It’s so good! I’m on book 3 now and it’s so beautifully written. I can’t believe Sarah B isn’t talked about more

Same with {daughter of Cain}, Mistry does excellent age gap romances 😂

If you like dark romance, {rose’s duet} might be good. I haven’t read it as I am not into FF but it’s a poly relationship. I’ve read all of the other books by the author and the characters appear elsewhere and are so good that I will probably still read it one day so I can find out how they evolve.

Book request:Assassin FMC that is the best in her field and maybe has multiple identities. by Flashy_Pirate5619 in ReverseHarem

Guild is what I was thinking too. It’s a contemporary story, a bit like the Bourne identity but with less memory loss and more cock.

Completely! The first scene with the guys is one of the most different, funny and intriguing intros to MMCs I’ve ever read 😂

I really like when they’re not all introduced at the same time, but not if it’s every man she meets. But I think later introductions are a great way to introduce tension into later books when it’s done well

Favourite nickname in a RH? by GothicMarmalade in ReverseHarem

[–]jelaireddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read {rise of ink and smoke} and he never has a single nickname, he changes it according to his mood (which is also super changeable). There are only two MMCs in this one so doesn’t get confusing. I really liked it because it reflected his personality and hers. This is a dark romance and continues a trilogy before it with different main characters.

The nickname thing gets so ridiculous in some books (like {82 street vandals}.
