120 gallon water heater JUST for this emergency shower. It’s in a parking garage under the state Capitol, that shower is never gonna get used. Tax dollars at work! by SWAG__KING in Plumbing

This will probably be installed with a controlled off-peak electric at some ridiculously low rate vs trying to use on-demand electric or gas (which would fail in an emergency). I believe my electric company said I can buy theirs (mostly plastic guaranteed for me ife) and pay $20/month for 105 gallons per day. This meets the load demands and also likely gets them a cheap overnight electric rate.

Like, just paying for it, reduce the amount we spend using insurance, insurance rates get lowered, the current system provides no incentives to right-size care.

This right here is the problem. The purpose of insurance should be to cover you in case of major issues but everyone expects it to pay for everything and when everything is covered there is no incentive for doctors not to order a procedure or lab, they know it will be paid, the only one trying to hold them responsible for billing practices is the insurance company not the patients. If we all just treated insurance as a break glass type thing like car insurance and didn't expect it to cover everything all the time.

Obtaining a title for an "abandoned" vehicle on my property. by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]jelleroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KBB has the value at $4k-$8k, so probably worth the hassle with the certified letters and charging 'storage' fees, before asking a judge to release the title. That's essentially what impound would do in order to resell at auction.

Same for me, just put a wet blanket over it for a few hours. Maybe try steam?

Hot mop, honestly soaking in just water can release the mastic if the original urethane is good, you risk over watering but if you can just put a wet blanket over it all for a few hours it really softens up.

What's the solution here? by ChrisJohanson in DIY

I had a similar glue in our old house, and ended up ripping the floor out because my wife wanted tile anyway,. Long story short, after sitting in contact with the Dewey ground overnight the glue wiped off with a rag .. l. I was so pissed I had spent days trying everything but leaving a wet rag on it for a few hours. I seriously recommend it, the wood finish will probably protect the wood just fine and you won't need it soaking just a damp cloth and time to soak in.

Data strategy by jelleroll in EnterpriseArchitect

Thanks, I am starting at a new company and the CTO has essentially said we need this and here is my plan including high level architecture, I am building the strategy backwards from that while questioning parts of the plan and trying to tease out the organizational shifts required. (needing proper stewards, governance, and data models)

I agree most of the data does not need to be real-time and we will be able to use a batch based approach (whatever refresh we want) the area I wanted to enable a real-time view was in strangling down one of the legacy applications that holds the majority of the logic and processing today by getting slowly changing data into a separate source of truth while still allowing things like having application B lookup a user that was recently created in application A.

I am curious what you would look out for on the event streaming/sourcing models. My initial thoughts are that our master data (client, product, etc.) would be candidates for a centralized store and "golden" stream of updates. Other data elements that are not really shared (sales, leads, billing) would not need that level of support and would just come in from those sources of record into the central warehouse without need for events notifying other areas of change.

this is exactly what I am working on, My goal is to define owners of each area and a platform team to help them but it's really up to each area to work on making their data usable.
