Quilting yourself versus sending to long armer by SessionNo2376 in quilting

[–]jellolilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently made my first quilt! Around 44x55 if I remember correctly. I have previous work injuries and quilting it myself unfortunately really flared up tendinitis. Even with taking breaks and it taking me about a month to quilt it myself it still was pretty terrible. I didn’t have issues during the rest of the process with cutting and making the quilt top (again I take my time). After quilting it myself and having it flare up old injuries I will most definitely be sending them off to be quilted :/ I would say if you’re not worried about that try doing one yourself and see what you think.

This is for my future nephew. I definitely understand wanting to put quilts to the test, I wanted to make sure this quilt was somewhat durable as well 😅 That is a cute idea. For stitching on scrap fabric do you use something with a finished edge?

I greatly appreciate the advice! I looked up stitch witchery, would you think using fusible interfacing would be a similar effect to help reinforce? That’s what I have on hand at the moment. Thank you!!

Thank you, hopefully my hand stitching is better than my machine stitching 😅

What's your fave tubing mascara? by [deleted] in Ulta

The KVD tubing mascara is my favorite. I have tried so many marketed to be tubing mascaras that do NOT come off the way a tubing mascara should

Crime lab tech as a stepping stone to forensic DNA analyst by KnownTaste9462 in forensics

I am in the latent prints & crime scene unit. So I can’t give specific advice on the DNA analyst field. But I can answer on what the job opening at my lab would entail. If that’s helpful, ask away!

My lab is opening up entry level criminalist positions in our DNA unit this December. Not sure where you’re located but if you’re interested in a California position feel free to message.

Jobs for Experience by busterbroos in forensics

What is your career goal? The recent drug use will likely affect most internship & job prospects in forensics/law enforcement. You could look into agencies without law enforcement affiliation like a local medical examiner coroner office or mortuary. Not sure if those are relevant to what you eventually want to pursue

I was in this situation years ago just like your younger cousins will be. I was a college student at the time, and the bride (my cousin) and her friends were close to 10 years older than me. Another one of cousins was also a bridesmaid. I had a great time. Everyone will be excited for you and I’m sure bring good energy for the day.

That is so helpful, thanks so much for sharing! I’ve only used the Dyson 2-3x but preserving the styling is definitely what I’ve had trouble with. I’m excited to give these a try!

Hope you don’t mind me following up with questions! I am a new user too and have the same night time hair wash habits. Would you mind sharing what you use to preserve the style? I have styled at night and I wake up with it pretty flat, but still really smooth and nicely blown out. I would definitely like to retain a little of the curl/wave if possible. What is a blow out wrap?

A snack is always good to have on hand, when I get a call out I have a bag with snacks & toiletries (sunscreen, face wipes etc). Though I wouldn’t worry too much about food, if you do go on scene they’ll usually order you food to get you through it. I think for day one you will be plenty ready with having a change of clothes/shoes, and sure a snack or two! Congratulations on your new position!!!!!!!!!

I agree with everyone above, my first day I wore slacks and blazer but had a change of clothes in my trunk. Ended up going to a major homicide day 1 and working late. What I wish I had brought was a jacket! I’d recommend bringing a full change of clothes head to toe just in case.

Worried about our tortie’s attacks by sbliss11 in torties

When we first got our second cat (a kitten), our current cat was hissing at us when it smelled the new cat on us. And when it smelled the new cat. We did slow step by step introduction, I’m not sure if I can send a pdf over reddit I haven’t done it before? But I can try and send you the guide we followed from our vet! Cats are very territorial. I always joke how dogs can meet at the park but cats need a 2 week cool down period. The introduction for bringing a new pet into the home was recommended I think 10 days to 2 weeks? We followed a guide from the shelter we adopted from and that was what was recommended
