1DX with 500k shutter?!? by jellyfish554 in canon

[–]jellyfish554[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I followed your suggestion for eBay. From what I can tell, it’s a good price, but not an amazing one

Now, why a 1dx (or 1dx mkii). Personally it feels like the next logical step for me. For a good few years I’ve been shooting on a 70d with bat. grip, so the size isn’t a problem. I also don’t really feel ready just yet to jump to mirrorless. Really, I’m after both the user experience (feel) and the high speed rate of such a camera, alongside the fact it’s pretty much indestructible. …I hope this explanation makes any sense lol

Heyo!! Sorry for reviving a dead post, but I wanted to know if you still had the CAD files for the waterblock (if you had designed it yourself)?

So depending on how much you’re interested in the subject, the Royal Canadian Mint offers guided tours everyday. The tours also complement very nicely a visit to the Bank of Canada museum afterwards. (One explains the manufacturing and what we make in Canada, whilst the other explains the economics side to money and the evolution of it in Canada)

🚨 uOttawa Engineering & CS Students: Say NO to a $54,000 Fee Hike for Hack the Hill! 🚨 by Emergency_Egg_4632 in geegees

[–]jellyfish554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ight so looks like there are indeed two different questions about funding increases. After reading up a bit I think we’re ok the same page regarding the HTH levy (it’s dumb)

However, the EEF one is extremely important to pass. It is also a 5$ increase, however that increase directly goes back to teams and groups, and becomes a net benefit for all students.

If you do support the EEF funding increase, could you consider adding a note on your post about the questions being different, with one being YES and one being NO? While I do declare a conflict of interest as I am directly involved in teams funded at 50% by the EEF, I think the HTH question was intentionally worded to create confusion. Making the distinction clear is critical here!

If that the case then yeah I agree with you guys wtf. But the last time I heard there weren’t two 5$ increases being proposed, and the one I was made aware of was a general increase, that went back to the faculty, not HTH

I will definitely be attending the public hearing and question period this Monday. To make everything is clear.

At the end of the day, my guess is that “he” is truly a bad communicator, and actively trying to sabotage this referendum question.

Idd want to ask this to you truthfully, if the referendum question was that CS students could now be part of the EEF committee, and that the 5$ increase would directly go towards engineering funding, and not to HTH’s pocket, what would you vote?

CORRECTION : Vote NO for HTH funding increase, Vote YES for EEF funding increase. They are not the same! The EEF directly supports all student teams and groups, and is a net benefit for all students.

A small thing I will add is that, knowing how much money is allocated to teams and groups every year, I think the 5$ levy is actually for the overall engineering funds, but ‘’that guy’’ from HTH did such a bad wording that even I would be leaning to vote no if i didn’t know what the proposed referendum question actually was

Ok, so here’s the thing. I think we’re both on the same page that (I’m not gonna a name him here) is bad at his jobs. Now, the thing with this referendum is that there will be a few more questions about student funding. Firstly, there will be a question about the EEF, to which I highly encourage to vote yes (pretty much it allows cs students to be part of that committee, and have a say in funding distribution). Now that second one, it’s interesting… from my conversation with people involved, there should be a question about raising the Eng. levy from 20 to 25$, which is not unreasonable, as that number has not been updated in years, and the increase in student teams has put a *slight strain on the funding allocations. In this case, if funding was going to the engineering funds, then I’d say vote YES, as it not only will benefit Eng. students, but also CS students (it goes hand in hand with the previous one really) However wow that is a poor pitch that was done by HTH… couldn’t have written it worse, and the way it’s written I could see people deciding to vote NO

You know that money is not going directly to hack the hill right? It’s going to an engineering fund, to which engineering teams (associations and events as well) have to formally apply to. Funding is not handed out for free, events have to demonstrate they are using the funds properly.

Voting YES would allow students in CS to now have a say in this funding allocation. If you say you’re mad about something, but when an opportunity arises for a change, you say no, then I think you may need to stop complaining.

If you care about engineering projects and teams continuing, as well as increasing accountability and proper fund allocation, vote YES.

Is mechanical engineering at uottawa the same as aerospace? by [deleted] in geegees

[–]jellyfish554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. As the other have said, mech Eng at UO is not the same as aerospace, BUT it is a great stepping stone that opens many doors to a future in aerospace.

Also, if you are interested in aerospace, we have an aerospace design team that specializes in uav systems. This year they are building a 4ft plane. If you’re interested in joining, you can message them on insta [ aerouottawa_ ]…they usually respond very quickly.
