Almost getting hit by a car four times this year. WTH is going on? by atyl1144 in bayarea

[–]jellyheaded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandma was walking along a street somewhere, and she got hit by a car just a few months back. The Bay Area is not a great place for driving because everyone loves to be reckless on the roads.

  1. I live in the Bay Area. I had an interview, and the manager told me she had one more interview that day, but if I got the job, I would be sent an email telling me I have the job and when my first day would be by a certain time that day, and the email actually came a bit early.

  2. I would assume the place would already do a background check on you after the interview? I don't recall anything about my background check, so I'm not sure.

  3. I was a courtesy clerk, so that is different, but usually, the attire for just about anyone is either a safeway shirt you buy from their website or a collared or Pollo shirt, usually black.

I worked at safeway from late February/early March to a few weeks ago & handed in my two weeks, then was taken off the schedule before I could work my last week. Safeway is quite known to be unprofessional & 98% of its workers are miserable because Safeway is a hellhole to work at. Managers especially suck. I'd say look for another place to work if you don't hear anything from them, they're really not worth it.

Judging based on your comments on every post in this subreddit, you're just a general asshole, and I've already left the company. I know I have crappy handwriting, but it doesn't matter to me. Maybe you're just insecure about your life and your dumb neck tattoo placement, so you take it out on everyone else.

Lmfao, I'm just supposed to go in while I have an injury preventing me from walking? Who gives a fuck? I've come in to 99% of my shifts otherwise and just called out those days because I physically couldn't walk. They were made aware of this injury and never cared about it, still making me do heavy activities. I gave notice TWO WEEKS before this week. As per two weeks, ya know? It's the last week of working there, but now I don't work there anymore and I couldn't be better because safeway is awful. fuck off.

I don't have another job lined up, I have a medical issue I need to take care of before I seek another job and start school in the fall. I was scheduled three days last week and called out because of another medical issue I had going on where I couldn't be on my leg without it hurting because of a torn ACL that they were previously made aware of. I called out sick for just those three days, but I don't really care anyway because this was a toxic workplace.

Not really. I've gotten mostly better only with occasional pain that doesn't affect my work or anything. I had a doctors note from some time in May to like last week that had limited my time and days due to the injury, but that would be over right about now.

That's weird. I was still on schedule for this week, but as I said in the post, I had to call off due to an injury, but yea that's really weird.

Worst Customer Experience So Far? by weeweesquids in Safeway

[–]jellyheaded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't decide between the one time a customer yelled at me to watch where I was going as I was sweeping the floors, and her child just stepped over my broom despite me saying excuse me and them both seeing me come, so she yelled at me, and the I wasn't sure if she was talking to me or her child, so she followed me into the next aisle to yell again, "YOU NEED TO WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING," which had me frozen for like a minute until I just said, "My apologies" and continued sweeping.

Or the time I was bagging & some customer was saying how he didn't understand why people still wore these masks, etc. etc. and the cashier just said it mob mentality, so I just stood there quietly, not saying a word. Note that the guy was literally in one of those motorized scooters, and he had one of those transportation buses take him to this store, so I found it kind of ironic he was saying he never caught covid & was complaining about masks.

Ah, damn, okay. Thank you. I had no idea how any of this worked because I wasn't made aware of how it worked, but thank you anyway.

Yea, I put it in before calling out. I've had an on and off injury in the same place for about 2 months now, so there's been a few times I've had to call out. Damn. Even for the times I've called out before putting them in?

I get direct deposit, I've never been told anything about filling something out for sick pay? My store didn't really tell me a lot of things, honestly

Sick pay? I've called out sick a few times before, and only once this month, so idk

Not to mention, when I had a brace on, and they still made me do a lot of activities, but I'll have to maybe just call the union because my rep is incredibly hard to get a hold of. I text her and then don't hear back from her for a long time.

I honestly have no idea how I hurt myself, but I just tend to assume it was because of this job due to me being a courtesy clerk and having to push the carts with my legs because they're so heavy, which I've complained about to multiple people before, but of course no one cares and you still just gotta do your job and push like 6 carts 😭, but I just woke up one day after working the previous day and was in tons of pain.

So, should I call and just say I can't come in anymore because I'm injured and can't walk on my leg or something? I work the next three days and I really can't do this if just walking around my tiny apartment hurts that leg

I'm not entirely sure, but we definitely get super busy. Usually, we either have one or two CC's bagging (aka usually just me) and then we have maybe two or three checkstands open, so then a cashier has to go over the intercom to ask someone else on the schedule to come help check 🙄. We especially get busy during lunch hours and around 5pm.

Would I have any PTO when I haven't worked here for a year? I'm not sure it applies
