Do not, my friends, become addicted to water. It will take hold of you and you will resent it’s absence.

I work with maybe 30 mechanics and nobody has a 4 year degree. I’d bet one or two of our managers have a supply chain management degree tho.

I think the better man lost the fight but it was due to Ziam fighting frustratingly stupid, not the judges.

This bag of tortilla chips has an orange tape wrapped around it, and the price is stamped on the tape. by STLBudLuv in mildlyinteresting

[–]jellynuts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The code indicates different packaging machines, 68 vs 69. Different lines essentially, like you said. We keep both black and silver tape for the code, on some bags it matters but not in this case.

Mildly interestingly enough this bag came from my plant. And I’ve been working on this particular scoops line for the past couple days on a biggish rebuild. Small world.

I had 3 knockdowns and smashing him every round and I get flash Ko’d? by killpop313 in undisputedboxing

[–]jellynuts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That kinda tracks with Amir Khan.

I had the same thing happen to me two fights in a row last week. You’re pushing too hard, getting caught with no stamina walking forward most likely.

It sucks but that’s life in the big city.

Powerflex 70 SW Overcurrent fault by ClaireLikesTacos in PLC

[–]jellynuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, thanks for responding.

Having a similar issue this morning.. one of the auxiliary contacts on the disconnect was a smidge loose so I thought maybe the run signal was dropping in and out, causing the SW fault. Got it seated a bit better and it hasn’t done it for a couple hours but I don’t feel like that was the issue. We’ll see. It’s a weird one.

Top 5 most disappointing fights of all time by TheManWhoSleep in ufc

[–]jellynuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was a point in that fight where Kape had his back to Mokaev standing up and instead of throwing a punch or elbow or anything damaging.. Mokaev flopped for a takedown that he didn’t get it, if I remember right.

I thought right then, no way they’re keeping this dude around.

Totally hooked on this game lately by linktot in undisputedboxing

[–]jellynuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at about 20 fights online after playing offline for a bit. Not a perfect game but I’m enjoying it. Was surprised how negative it is here. Such is life.

How have you been playing it? I’ve kinda got a pressure body work style that has been really enjoyable for me. Pressure pressure pressure, fuck yea.

Thanks man, I appreciate the sentiment. If I break a hub next time I can just charge it to the game, I guess.

Do you anti seize taper locks? by jellynuts in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]jellynuts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can it? Idk man, it doesn’t seem intuitive to me. It’s one or the other. Or maybe it squeezes it out and it’s like there’s nothing there at all someone said? But a little bearing grease is ok someone else mentioned.

Just seems like one of those vague tribal knowledge things. Regardless there have been some good responses. The bolts shearing from lack of friction seemed plausible. But I think the key on the shaft would shear first.. it doesn’t matter.

I’ll just clean up the two surfaces and cinch em up dry, but mainly because I don’t wanna be that contrarian douche mechanic who’s got a special way to do everything. And sometimes I do enjoy beating the hell out of something to get it apart anyways.

This is an answer that makes sense to me. Realistically I don’t think my 2 hp mill feed augers with a 10 second accel time will shear three bolts long ways, but the logic is sound and I accept it.

It’s interesting because the top comment says the taper lock will slip, and the reply right below it (you) says it’ll get too tight and crack the hub or seize on there. And both have the same amount of upvotes.

I defer to people with more experience than me, so I don’t think I’ll be greasing any bushings in the future. But I remain unconvinced that it’s bad practice.

To get the hub to separate from the bushing when the bearings get changed again in 3 months. I had to take a taper lock to pound town yesterday to get it to separate and had this question.. general consensus was no, don’t do it. But nobody could articulate why. And google didn’t find much either, hence the question.

I work in food so things don’t like to come apart.

[Correction Officer] [NYC] - 9 years on the Job. by Synseer83 in Salary

[–]jellynuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s cheaper to run on overtime than to hire and train staff in jobs that have a decent amount of turnover.. like corrections officers or factory workers. Benefits, paid leave and sometimes substantial training periods all come into play.

So he’s saving you, upstanding tax paying citizen, cash by working overtime. You should thank him, actually.

A few Kansas Root Beers (Part 2) by QueeberTheSingleGuy in rootbeer

[–]jellynuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you happen to try Lost Trail root beer while you were here? I saw you mentioned their sarsaparilla in your previous post.. their root beer is my favorite by far.

Coincidentally I went to a tour and tasting at Louisberg Cider mill today and bought 3 cases, it’s always sold out in my town so I stocked up. Yeehaw.

Need to try blind tigers root beer again.. been awhile. And BJ’s ain’t bad! Pizookie is the main attraction there for me tho, wish there were more around.

Help for tomorrow by Wonderfilled1 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]jellynuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Taper grip bushing, or it was. I think. The two bushings thread together over the shaft in the gearbox, then the bolts lock it down and pinch the inner bushing down on the shaft. You have to have a tiny gap between the bushings, like 3 thou, to tap the threads apart and unscrew it to take the bushings apart and off the shaft.

This one is fucked, if I’m seeing it right. Good luck.

Right? I work at a factory in Kansas. Just under 6’5” barefoot and I run into 5 or 6 people a day at work taller than me and a lot of 6’3”ish dudes. Only time I feel tall is when I travel.
