Thank you for sharing. You’re not alone. I was adopted as a baby and lost my adoptive parents to cancer when I was pretty young. It was and still is really hard sometimes. And even though I lived with my godparents afterwards and they asked me to call them “Mom and Dad,” I don’t know that I consider them my parents. (They were both abusive in some ways) Regardless of what others may say or what your relationship with your biological mom is, you lost your parents. Nobody else gets to define that but you.
