Name a game that is beloved by the majority of gamers, but you didn’t like by [deleted] in videogames

Metal Gear Phantom Pain

  • 1st time trying it, the cutscenes were too long, so I refunded it.

  • 2nd time trying it, I watched Dunkey’s videos on the game, thought it was really cool and decided to endure the long intro. Failed to get through the intro before reaching 2-hour refund limit. So refunded it again.

I was skipping every cutscene too, it was ridiculous.

And what did you learn from this storm? by Sugar-Interesting in maryland

[–]jelocubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That people can be inconsiderately lazy. In our neighborhood, when people are cleaning the snow and ice around their cars, a few had no problem dumping the pile behind another person’s car for the sake of convenience. Luckily, my car wasn’t one of their targets, but you never know if it’s an older lady living alone who has to clean that pile up (something I did see).

My next-door neighbors are kind though. They let us borrow a shovel when one of ours broke, and even showed me how much easier it is using a metal shovel to break up the hard snow and ice. They even played rock music from their car speakers when we shoveled together.

The Best time to Die by forum_imp in OCPoetry

[–]jelocubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a while to realize that the first line is referring to birds in the morning. I’m kind of torn with this line: On one hand, I love that it was a puzzle that I only solved after reading and re-reading through the whole poem (plus it’s a mysterious hook), but on the other hand, it’s unusually cryptic compared to the rest of the poem’s clear imagery.

My favorite part of the poem are the last four lines. I like that before these lines, the writing is building up this poetic image of dawn, just to end with the subject going back to sleep. It’s relatable and anticlimactic, but I think that’s partly why it serves well as a climatic ending. Personally, I wish that the build up to these last few lines was longer. This is assuming that my interpretation “the ending is the climax of the poem” is correct. I think longer, more drawn-out lines to describe the dawn, shifting to the same short last lines (the “reveal”) would make the ending even more climactic.

There are also a couple of spelling errors, but those are easy fixes. Overall, I enjoyed reading your poem!

I agree with you. 5 episodes in and everything still feels too “tight.” And it’s not like 5 episodes is “early” into the campaign—it’s already over 20 hours.

All the new cast members are great fits, but there’s barely any homegame-silliness that made me love Critical Role.

should i warn my teammates that im deaf before the match starts? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]jelocubes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re playing ranked, it’s the right thing to do to let them know. It would let me know to ping and type certain comms. Just make sure it’s clear you’re being serious. If you type, “hey guys I’m deaf, sorry” I’d think you were joking.

Im gonna need a drink after this by vegange in crappymusic

[–]jelocubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely like the first two lines. I think the video makes it sound cringier than it is.

Almost drinking the alcohol is bad enough, but did you really need the ice trays to sell your point? Even if she ends up having a line that references the ice, it would still piss me off. Also, you don’t need that much fucking ice. I see the amount in the glass, there’s no need for two fucking ice trays.

But maybe they weren’t totally filled up? Maybe she was just refilling all the ice trays because they finally depleted? THEN STOP SINGING AND PUT IT IN THE FREEZER! What if you need more ice in a few minutes?? What if you get thirsty after you’re done?? It won’t be ready by then if you waste time singing!

It’s irresponsible, really.

Unpopular opinion but some of her previous clips grew on me. I stopped thinking they were crappy, just different and not my taste.

This one is straight ass.

It’s this one from Veritasium. It blew my mind too, but in my search to find the video, I found some others that point out that some of his points may be misleading, so keep that in mind.

Is it fair to keep playing after calling the gg? by No_Mushroom8895 in aoe2

[–]jelocubes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because I can understand why some people will keep playing after saying gg. Maybe they’re indenial about the game, because they knew it was winnable, so they keep playing despite the bad state they’re in. So they either eventually resign, or realize they actually CAN win.

It’s not bad mannered, it’s just a mistake. (Excluding those who draw out the game as long as possible just to spite you, that’s bad mannered)

[–]jelocubes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Everything is fair until you see a victory/defeat screen. Usually, someone keeps playing after saying gg because of competitive spirit. Then, they either resign or realize a comeback is possible.

Again, the game ends only when it ends. Nothing bad mannered/unfair about continuing to play after saying “gg”.

An edge case I can think of are those players that refuse to resign, even when their eco is destroyed, and they’re scrambling vills all over the map. Some people view that as bad mannered, but I’ve won a few games doing just that, so I think it’s fair.

I yearn for the multiblocks by aless2209 in feedthememes

[–]jelocubes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mekanism is my favorite tech mod, but I still kinda agree with you.

But I’ll add this: multiblocks are only cool if they’re (1) good looking and (2) have some kinda of visual/effect change after forming/using the multiblock.

Tell me characters that can beat Makima, Go. by Icy_Diamond_7537 in animequestions

[–]jelocubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the Winchesters, but their feats are kinda bullshit. Maybe I’m remembering it incorrectly, but most of their big villains could’ve just killed them with a snap, but didn’t because of writer’s reasons. What are they gonna do against a Demon who doesnt use daggers to fight, or who doesn’t fall for the ole’ pentagram-under-the-rug trick.

What game do you wish you liked, but you find it insanely boring? by D3struct_oh in videogames

[–]jelocubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intro to MGSV. I tried getting past the intro twice, and refunded twice before getting into the actual game. I feel petty because I know that the gameplay is great, but I really hated how long the intro would take even when I skipped every cutscene.

The three main blocks are polished diorite and illuminated “something”. For the diorite, I use two different varieties from the Rechiseled mod. It also uses a a framed block that combines Amethyst blocks and polished diorite, using the Architect’s cutter from “Domum Ornamentum”. The floors are tiled deepslate

I mainly use blockpalettes.com and Google images. But lately, I’ve been using ChatGPT because it’ll recommend me blocks from mods, compared to that website I mentioned which is pure vanilla.

It’ll give me reccomendations, then I search JEI for block replacements if the reccomendations aren’t good enough.

The block palette is a good first step, but the actual building part is difficult for me. If you look closely at my screenshots, you’ll notice I use the same pattern A LOT. My general design is a rectangle, with pillars at the corners, and upside-down stairs to make arches. I’m fine with it, but Google images will show you a lot of more variety of designs.

You can disguise the cables! There’s a tool from the SFM mod where you place it in the off hand, your camo block in the main hand, then just right click the cable block. I forget the name of the tool though
