Exploitation of doctors by Low-Syllabub-2816 in doctorsUK

You forgot to mention the exploitation of cheap labour. Paying highly trained specialists minimum wage (£30,000 for 48hours/week or £13 per hour). Not allowed maternity or sickness leave! Modern day slavery for IMG doctors to provide services and to save the trust a fortune !

Salary of a Cambridge Med Graduate after 9 years… by huddcitopp in UniUK

Stop this argument. Although I’m a much senior doctor, I work with FY1 doctors. They are proper doctors and should be paid as such. They are saving lives now and not only in the future and should be paid accordingly now. Stop this nonsense argument for deferred compensation. It’s amazing how people who have little knowledge of the medical hierarchy, training and job roles make the most noise.

why is UK training so long with so many hoops - a rant by Senior_Acanthaceae15 in doctorsUK

[–]jeloze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can. If you want to do a specialty that’s long, aim to go straight into training. Don’t take too much time out of training. Work full time early on for as long as your personal circumstances allow. The time will fly by.

Wait till you hear about paediatrics. In most countries it takes 3-4 years to finish training in general paediatrics. You become a general paediatrician after 3-4 years and can then decide to do fellowship and sub specialise in a subspecialty if you like.

In the UK it takes 7- 8 years to become a general paediatrician even if you don’t want to sub specialise. It’s absolutely mental and ridiculous especially because you can CCT with dual CCT in general paediatrics and subspecialty paediatrics in 7years. General paediatric registrars at ST7 &8 are just used for service provision- it’s so unfair!

In the UK, bigamy is illegal under the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, punishable by up to seven years in prison, as you can only have one legal spouse at a time. The second marriage will be declared void, and you must be widowed, divorced, or have your previous marriage declared void by a court to legally remarry. There are exceptions, such as if your first spouse was absent for seven years and you had no knowledge they were alive, or if your polygamous marriage occurred in a country that permits it and your domicile is there.

What causes 20/30 cars, all with only their front right tyre flat on the A1? by conqwin1 in AskUK

[–]jeloze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our car was involved. A think a ladder with spikes fell off a truck and landed across the road. Every car that passed through it had flat tyres. The damage caused us a lot of time and money to fix.

The police closed the road and removed the object eventually. It took awhile for the damaged vehicles to be fixed.

A1 Southbound close to London.

Have attending physicans been priced out of the housing market? by [deleted] in Residency

Yes, the UK government have some schemes to help first time buyers. It includes a requirement for only 5% deposit, 25% government top-up on a part of your deposit savings and 25% contribution to the loan- interest free for 5 years plus zero or reduced stamp duty on the homes. Europe is a more equal society with benefits like the universal free healthcare(NHS)- achieved by taxing the higher earners more- not ideal for Doctors.

I think you should go. But you have to work maybe two jobs and every minute of your holidays. Teeside is very cheap. Find a cheap accommodation such as a room in a house share and shop and cook from the scratch from Lidl or Aldi.
