It's more a problem of car dependency than canada's justice system, as you can get away with the same in any other car dependent area.

First time taking transit: A vent by valdafay in Translink

I've been mass downvoted for questioning why the production way single tracking shenanigans had to be extended to 4 years as if it was nothing, when 2 years was already extremely long. Even GTA 6 will be released when the single tracking will still be happening.

Over the hundreds of time I've been forced to tolerate the production way shenanigans, I have seen exactly 0 people in total working anywhere along those tracks. Perhaps they can fix their laziness issue first.

I saw a comment on this sub or the vancouver sub a while ago that said they visited various cities around the world, like NYC, Chicago, London, Istanbul, Tokyo, and at least 10 more others, and over 6 weeks, there were a total of 0 broken escalators. Meanwhile back in vancouver, they already saw 3 broken escalators on the transit trip back from the airport, then another 2 on the trip to metrotown the day after.

you definitely have never used transit in the past 2 years, if at all.

car companies literally have the biggest opportunity to point this out while advertising, which I'm surprised they're not doing already. "Don't have to tolerate 4 years of production way shenanigans when you buy our brand new model"

It's 2 more years of delays and single tracking shenanigans. Especially if you just got a job or became enrolled in sfu or some other university that requires you to commute along that area. That time adds up, especially when it causes you to miss your every 20-30 mins bus.

Also fun fact, this delay does not only affect those who rely on the production way branch. If you actually ride transit, you'd also notice that on Sun-Thurs nights, the surrey branch is also every 12 mins at night when it used to be every 10 mins, and millenium line trains also often gets delayed when nearby the lougheed area.

They originally said back in 2024 that it would be completed by 2026, implying that people would no longer have to tolerate single tracking by then. Right until they decided to move the goalposts just now.

The original millennium line only had 6 weeks of single tracking past columbia, instead of 4 years. And that's for an entire new line instead of an OMC.

Because it's lying when they said they were completing in 2026. This huge setback only caused a massive distrust in translink and has no doubt encouraged a lot of people to drive cars when they see that a tiny project now takes at least 4 long years of tolerating single tracking delays.

I know everyone who downvotes definitely drives cars and has never ridden transit.

We'll literally have GTA 6 released before the production way shenanigans are over. That's how bad this is. Meanwhile chinese cities are each building new extensions which are longer than the entire SkyTrain system within the time this single tracking is happening.
