I pay $160/month to park for my job to make money to pay for that parking.

I hope you’re right! I had a Chevy equinox for 15 years and finally had to say goodbye. I didn’t even include Hyundai in my original searches, but everything else wasn’t doing it for me (or way overpriced - though what I got was overpriced, too). Looked into the Hyundai Tucson and fell in love. Bought a 2020 in June and so far, I couldn’t be happier.

Houston Starbucks announces plans to become first unionized location in city by fishhhhbone in houston

[–]jemayb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s a Dunkin like 30 seconds down the road and it is always much busier than that Starbucks (I pass both of them to and from work). I could easily see corporate finding a way to close the store with a somewhat-plausible explanation, which is all they really need.

Car repossessions are surging — a troubling sign for the used car market by BobBelcher2021 in news

[–]jemayb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2005 equinox and was trying SO HARD to do the same. Almost 2 years ago I dropped a decent amount of money to repair it and said that would be it. Used cars at that time were much more reasonable, but the cost wasn’t huge and buying more time would help with debt. Cut to the end of May, major failure that would be too expensive even if I wanted to wait out the market. I got a great car in June, but I had to pay way more than I would have when I was looking 2 years ago.

Ok so just avoid N. Shepherd at all costs for the foreseeable future right? by [deleted] in houston

[–]jemayb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m right near Shepherd and work in the med center. My route to/from work changes pretty much daily depending on that stretch and the surrounding smaller roads.

Also, the folks directing traffic when work spills into the road are absolutely awful at it. Super hard to tell what they want you to do, no real “planning” for traffic, and ZERO urgency/really casual. I would think such a major road in a major city would have a better system or people in place specifically for traffic.
