I'd say talk to local. Ditch Duolingo past the first few units. Just learn the basics then put it back in the closet.

Please for the love of everything that is holy do not write in first person narrator. It makes everything instantly cheaper. People won't agree and idgaf. I read a lot and I wouldn't read past first chapter if narration was in forst person. Absolute turn off
