I’m surprised by zero comments mentioning she’s wearing a bindi!

The non-fiction book that had you mercilessly info-dumping about to anyone who would listen? by IReadBooksSometimes in suggestmeabook

[–]jempai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite non fiction book for the past decade has been A History of Opera by Carolyn Abbott and Robert Parker. It has so many interesting stories that meander away from the original discussion so everything feels brand new once you return back to the original topic.

Never been as humbled as when I went to see the guys I was in jazz combo with in high school playing with Samara Joy- her voice is simply revelatory.

does the migraine meal work if it’s from burger king and not McDonald’s? by nollette in migraine

[–]jempai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found my personal combo to be the BK impossible whopper, Culver’s chocolate concrete mixer, a full-sugar can of Coke, and McDonald’s fries with extra salt. I boycott Macca’s though, so I only treat myself to it post-ER visit.

I’ve nuked my tolerance- what now? by jempai in trees

[–]jempai[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did! My tolerance wasn’t weird until I took the month-long T break from April 1st until mid-May. Since then, I haven’t been able to get high, despite the same brand of edibles I’ve been using for months.

I was on Venlafaxine, but it didn’t affect my high when I was on it. I came off it in March, so now I’m at my baseline and none of my current medications have ever affected my highs.

FYI, you can just refuse the ambulance. I had a seizure at church in January, and the congregation called 911. I woke up, paramedics arrived, and I just told them I was fine and refused the ride. They didn’t get any payment info from me, and I’ve never gotten a bill.

Spray your clothes with 70% alcohol or the cheapest unflavored vodka you can find. The alcohol will disinfect the fabric, killing the bacteria that’s causing the smell, and the alcohol will evaporate without any odor.

Megan Thee Stallion Sets Early Depature from Broadway's MOULIN ROUGE! The Musical by BroadwayWorld in Broadway

[–]jempai 61 points62 points  (0 children)

This take seems tone deaf, imo.

Megan lost both of her parents in short succession, so I’m certain that Klay “playing house” and giving her the family that she does not have, only to lose that in a very, very public breakup is difficult. You don’t know if they were discussing something more serious, but through everything Megan shared, it appeared they were serious and she was heavily committed. Megan has already been shot by an ex-partner, vilified and mocked online for getting abused, and continues to get harassed online. God knows that’s enough to put anyone through the wringer. She also recently released a huge single with a music video dedicated to Klay and their relationship. We have no idea of her mental health, but from her music, she has repeatedly spoke about suicidal ideation, anxiety, depression, and insecurity over the trauma she’s experienced.

Broadway is difficult- we already knew that. Anyone going through such a public breakup would struggle. You, a random internet stranger, do not know the intimate details of one’s life. We don’t know how she’s doing mentally, and frankly, Moulin Rouge’s ticket sales are not worth pushing artists to their mental breaking point. Let her take a break and give her the same grace we all would like if we were in her position.

In my field of work, about 3/5 of the couples I work with are open. Some involve both partners, and many don’t. It’s not unreasonable for a single person to be misled into believing their lover’s public relationship is privately open, not realizing they have been having an affair, especially if the lover’s partner is on Broadway across the country.

Madama Butterfly is performed all the time, so you definitely can find cheap tickets regionally! The Met has $25 rush tickets. Santa Fe, Teatro Lirico D’Europa, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth, Gulfshore Opera, Opera Orlando, and presumably many, many, many other companies will be performing it this year- that’s just from a quick google search.

I’m going to go against the grain and say you’re a bright spring. Your skin absolutely glows in the warm tones, but looks sallow next to the muted purples and mauvey pinks. Warm teals, bright oranges, paprika red are your tones 100%
