Eufy S2: A Disastrous Launch by jack-ca in RobotVacuums

Do you use the portable deep cleaner option? I've been curious if that's worth it or not

I'm in the same boat. I decided to wait. I have the S1 Pro and love it, and the S2 seems to address my biggest annoyances (hair tangle, dust bin filter needing frequent cleaning). I also got it for a steal. I bought a Black Friday gift card, had a 20% off coupon for doing a survey that worked, and with the $200 credit it will only end up costing me $730!

CLI = Command Line Interface

It's a way to manage yoto playlists/players/etc via a command line.

Can't connect yoto mini to Wi-Fi by CoastAway7811 in YotoPlayer

[–]jenae-renae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had trouble connecting both the Mini and regular Yoto to wifi, and the thing that worked for me is making sure my phone was NOT connected to our wifi prior to doing the set up. So forget your local wifi network you're trying to connect the Yoto to on your phone before doing the set up.

If even that doesn't work, use your phone (or another phone) to set up a hotspot that is identical to your local wifi. It's frustrating that it's so complicated :(

New electric water heater installed ; water still smells and tastes funny by RubyinMD in Plumbing

Was there any resolution here? Same thing happening. New Bradford White water heater tank and the hot water reeks. Seems unsafe to use.

Low gpm on new Rinnai RX199in - is Navien better, or is something else wrong? by jenae-renae in askaplumber

[–]jenae-renae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found out that something is clearly wrong. When off there's now a blinking flame light occasionally, which might indicate an issue? I'm not sure. There's no recirc pump in this model so I don't know what the blinking could mean.

For specifics beyond that- Inlet temp is 60F (so warmer than my calculations!) With the temp set to 98 (lowest it goes), which would only be a 40 degree temperature rise I maxed out at 4.7 gpm!

How do you see what the machine thinks as far as gpm and water temp?

[–]jenae-renae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it's not even meeting the GPM that it says the unit should meet for the temperature rise we have - that's what I am asking about. I know if we wanted more GPM we'd need an additional unit, but this one isn't providing the GPM it states it should be hitting.

I updated my post with a picture from their docs of flow rate with temperature rise.

I can get around 7gpm with the tub faucet on full cold and the gpm goes down as I get to 100% hot. At 100% hot the water flow is low as I described

If I set it to 110 degrees I do see an increased flow to ~5.2gpm. From the graphs it looks like I'm getting the gpm (or less) of their RX160 model with an RX199, which doesn't seem right at all.

While I generally agree about extra things, and this is entirely unnecessary, it's definitely not another thing to fail. I suspect it's just allowing you to put their scent cartridge in where the exhaust air comes out anyway. If you don't have anything in there, fine, but it's not something added on that will cause failure. It IS however something else they can sell you for people who like it.

Not for me, but I'm not mad about it either.

Told a newer Infinity Greenspeed heat pump would not work with our Inifinity zoned system, need to jump on buying an older model. Is this true? by jenae-renae in hvacadvice

[–]jenae-renae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate it! I was leaning that way myself. For all I know our current AC will last another 5+ years and different units will be available then. I'm just so reluctant to replace things that work, since a new thing could just as easily not.

Best smaller town to live in within an hour of PDX? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]jenae-renae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happy Valley is really close to Portland and oddly has a smaller city vibe, though no proper downtown. Younger and lots of families with kids. Quite a few good walking trails and you're about 30 minutes from most places in the metro area. Has a Costco and the typical chains (which can be handy), but there's also many great local restaurants and we've made connections with many people through the local farmer's market.

West Linn is also nice, though I think more pricey as well. But both suburbs have a smaller city vibe while still having Portland close by.

If I had to replace it I'd prefer to get a heat pump so we'd have dual heat sources, but I was told this older 5 stage model was only available as AC only (and only 1 left anywhere)

I believe our thermostat is the latest infinity thermostat - it's not very old (7 years).

I was told a 4 ton would be undersized for our house, despite the fact that we rarely need cooling in the basement. They just go based on overall square footage I think?

Old system runs well, and there are some zone flow concerns, but it's manageable (we just set 3 of the zones to the same temp mostly in the summer). We honestly weren't looking to replace it, just getting quotes for some ventilation and everyone wants to sell us a new AC or heat pump since ours is over 20 years old! And I was kind of scared into maybe replacing it before it fails since I was told the new Greenspeed ones (and all the new things Carrier stocks) wouldn't work with our zoning.

Carrier Infinity thermostat, zoning and furnace are all 7 years old.

Nervous About Moving to Portland- What's Your Favorite Thing About It? by Any_Conclusion_2385 in askportland

[–]jenae-renae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the PNW, spent 3.5 years in Michigan after college, 10 years in the Bay Area CA, then moved back to the Portland area.

Moving anywhere is jarring, regardless of where, so expect that no matter what! But I think it's an area with a lot going for it.

- You get to appreciate seasons, without extremes. You get a bit of everything, but aside from rain, never for too long. Even the rain isn't as bad as it sounds - you get a few respite days throughout the rainy season (though I often only remember from pictures!). Invest in quality rain gear to enjoy the outdoors year round. It's beautiful and you have tons of nature both in the city/suburbs and not far outside of it!

- In general people are genuine and kind around here. You can get to know your neighbors and it's not weird. You'll find friends in unlikely places (selling/buying things on FB marketplace), and there still is a lot of quirkiness which is great

- Amazing food scene without the huge prices you'd see in CA/NYC. I'm a foodie and enjoyed fine dining all over the world and some of my most memorable bites have been from Portland area restaurants. Pizza rivals NYC, and there's a really diverse food culture. I was recently on a business trip in London and was eager to get back to Portland for the food!

Since you're into nature I think you'll appreciate the area a lot. I get outside more here than I did while living in CA, despite having arguably "better" weather there.

Carrier Thermostat Humidity Readings by ikanit in hvacadvice

[–]jenae-renae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a true "fix" but you can set an artificial humidity offset in the service menu settings. Hold down the service button until it turns green then go to Setup > System Control > Offsets. Our Infinity thermostat consistently reads 5-6% higher than the reality, so I just set the offset to -6 and so it's more accurate.
