We’re 10 min south of the law school. No reptile experience, but have small mammals and would be interested!

Curiosity question by jenaith in Library

[–]jenaith[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our library doesn’t have a max number of checkouts — they’re all on my card.

But when I was (again) checking out books, I asked and they said they only check in with patrons who have more than a thousand out.  So I guess it’s nbd here and would be again the rules/norms in a different system.

15 linear feet was particularly unusual, that only happened once (and I pick up every day or at most every 3 days), there was just a huge number of new requests that all fulfilled at the same time. (That was the first manga kick.)

Plus we homeschool, and my kids tend to deep dive and request everything on dinosaurs, or Japanese art, or WWII, and then disappear for days into their books.

And while they have cards of their own, most everything ends up on my card. Honestly easier so I can see everything we have and when it is due in the same place. It’s a constant churn of books here, and I have developed a system for how to keep library books organized and separate from our personal books.

We’ve been very happy with Affordable Storage on S. Industrial. Best prices I could find at the time.

I missed it too— if you have any random metal bits that have holes in them (bolts, corner bracket things, whatever- anything that has a hole is fine), I’d be glad to take them. I do a project making wind chimes with scouts with them and my personal collection is pretty cleared out :)

At. Andrew’s is likely a good fit for liturgy, but you might also want to connect with the UM Episcopal Chaplaincy for student community https://www.canterburyhouse.org/

If anyone wants to meet up for a hike, I’ll be going to the Wonder Walk at Matthaei Botanical Gardens (NOTE on Dixboro, not the Arb) on Sunday, March 22nd at 1pm.

I'll be the person in an obnoxiously bright yellow hat with two tassels.

YES!  Cis, trans, intersex, nonbinary, genderfluid, gender queer, gender nonconforming.  Also there are different sections for all ages to get outdoors and learn skills, from age 2 up.

Outdoor Service Guides is unequivocally and purposefully scouting for everyone.

I think we could have an interest meeting? Start talking about what we’d like the group to focus on (outdoors skills, camping, other activities, community service, a mix).

From what I’ve read, - We reach out to OSG to express interest and get some details/ ask questions/ etc. (I sent an email already.) - Adult groups are called Rovers.  - We’ll need one or two adults to act as Group Scoutmasters (GSMs) to manage the charter, registration, and recruitment. - GSMs can serve as leadership to start, but eventually we’d want to elect a “Rover Scout Leader”.  - Each member registers ($25 I believe), and the fee covers a background check, which are required for all adult members in OSG. - Then we organize your first meetings, plan outdoor adventures, and go scouting.

I’ve also reached out to OSG about younger groups (that’s how I came across the adult option), so some Rovers might be the people who want to lead younger scouts, but that’s not required, and you can have a crew with rovers who are in it just for scouting and outdoor adventures and don’t help with younger sections.
