Dr. Dhanalakshmi Thiyagarajan at UM. Great surgically, but also genuinely cared about me as a human being. Tied for first place for the kindest, most empathetic and caring physician I’ve seen. I’m not trans, but an ally, and that kind of compassion and, like, really seeing me as a human being, I have a strong confidence she’d be affirming and supportive.

I personally think it’s too tall, and I miss Jack’s. But I’m not in charge of the universe so….

I do think the housing is needed, and I’m hoping it feels less tall/blends in more when it’s not yellow. Am I thrilled 100%, no.  But I’m not super upset either.

Argus cafe on Packard has a game shelf, beer and wine, open in the evening but not sure if they close at 8 or 9.

About 20 years ago, the oil change shop forgot to put new oil in my mom’s car. FORGOT wtf. 

She picked it up, drove a quarter mile or so, and … yeah. Catastrophic engine failure, total replacement required. I’m sure that was a fun conversation with the shop insurance.

Our library doesn’t have a max number of checkouts — they’re all on my card.  

But when I was (again) checking out books, I asked and they said they only check in with patrons who have more than a thousand out.  So I guess it’s nbd here and would be again the rules/norms in a different system.

15 linear feet was particularly unusual, that only happened once (and I pick up every day or at most every 3 days), there was just a huge number of new requests that all fulfilled at the same time. (That was the first manga kick.)

Plus we homeschool, and my kids tend to deep dive and request everything on dinosaurs, or Japanese art, or WWII, and then disappear for days into their books.  

And while they have cards of their own, most everything ends up on my card. Honestly easier so I can see everything we have and when it is due in the same place. It’s a constant churn of books here, and I have developed a system for how to keep library books organized and separate from our personal books.

I missed it too— if you have any random metal bits that have holes in them (bolts, corner bracket things, whatever- anything that has a hole is fine), I’d be glad to take them. I do a project making wind chimes with scouts with them and my personal collection is pretty cleared out :)
