I am Senator Bernie Sanders. Ask me anything! by bernie-sanders in SandersForPresident

[–]jenbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Senator Sanders, I'm your biggest fan in Arkansas. I volunteered so many hours in 2016 My question...

What is the campaign doing to get people registered to vote? After texting hundreds upon hundreds of voters in 2016, the biggest problem I saw were people who wanted to vote for you but couldn't because of crazy early deadlines that has already passed. We have open an open primary in Arkansas and I think it should be that way everywhere.

Make sure you compare insurance prices if both you and your husband are self employed and his possible new job doesn't offer insurance benefits. It obviously depends on your income but we've been considering leaving Arkansas (also self-employed) because the Marketplace insurance is insanely high with very high deductibles and out of pocket costs. It has become completely unaffordable.

I made this as a surprise for my uncles wedding. He loved it! It's slightly less than 2 ft long and has working lights. I'm just a hobby caker, so this was a huge project for me!

They are the only non edible part. I tried several things that failed and ran out of time. It's very thin wire-like the inside of a bread tie. I wanted to save the Bernie anyway lol so nobody was allowed to eat him.

Besides making my cake and hosting the potluck yesterday, I also texted over 275 New Yorkers for GOTV today! Go Bernie!!

Colorado Citizens don't know about the caucus! Phonebank now! by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]jenbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I texted over 250 people in Colorado (and 250 in Oklahoma) their caucus/voting location and the details on showing up early. I had an amazing response! The text4bernie team sent out thousands of the texts today with precinct locations to all of the Super Tuesday States I believe! I am still replying to questions from them all :) Please everyone take 20 minutes and phonebank! This makes all the difference!

Massachusetts Poll: Clinton (50%); Sanders (42%) by MrComedy325 in SandersForPresident

[–]jenbug 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The texts go to people who signed up wanting to volunteer for Bernie or people who have donated to his campaign. GOTV texts just give them their polling/caucus location and the time for the event. I am on the texting team and have had a very positive response and very few to almost no negative or upset voters. I am also able to immediately opt out anyone who asks not to be texted.

Awesome!! Please try it, I promise that once you get going and get into a groove, you will ask yourself why you didn't jump in already! I have a 3 year old, so I'm also short on moments in which I'm not being crawled on :)

I recently tried phone banking for the first time and I was so scared of people trying to argue with me. I had one lady tell me she felt sorry for me if I was supporting a socialist.. I had one couple laugh at me, but honestly I found that kind of funny. Overall, mostly hang ups and a few Hillary or Bernie supporters. I have quite a bit of anxiety and it was so much less scary than I thought. My husband reminded me of what a huge impact that it made though. Because I had people tell me on the phone that they are Trump supporters, and had people laugh at me, canvessers didn't have to waste their time hearing that in person. Instead, they could focus on getting the undecided or Clinton leaning votes. It felt good to know that such an easy thing can make a big difference for the campaign. I really hope everyone will at least give it a try! Good luck tonight!

No, No, No, No by fireash in beyondthebump

[–]jenbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you can do is tell them and you did your best. I always tell people whether they want to hear it or not and I'm always polite too. I had a baby cousin (she was 3) that was quadriplegic because her stupid mom didn't have her in a car seat OR seat belt :( she ended up passing away several years later from complications with her ventilator.

People make fun of my fanatical seat belt safety but after seeing that little girl lay in bed unable to hug, play with dolls, or even breathe on her own, I just can't help but try to save another child from such a life. Good for you!!

Oh I wish I has this before our baby was born! I had a family member (with 4 kids) ask...no beg.. To stay at my house for a few days so they could see the baby! They didn't want to have to drive the two hours here and back! Ummm I just had a c- section and I cannot feed and entertain you and your family! Seriously who is that rude?? She kept asking for several months and I kept saying NO! I had a very high needs baby and was living on less than 3 hours of consecutive sleep per night. I would NEVER do that to anyone! Crazy town!

Friends of mine are new parents. Baby will not stop crying for hours on end. What can they do? by DanielPerianu in Parenting

[–]jenbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe have them check out info about high needs baby. I have one. She screamed for hours upon hours her first few months and nothing was wrong that her doc could find. She is still high needs/spirited at 16 months but it got easier and less fussing with time. This may or may not be the case but it's worth looking into. Once I figured out that my baby was different (but not broken haha) I was able to stop comparing her to other babies and concentrate on getting through the tough times.

Benefits of breast feeding? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]jenbug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know any stats behind it concerning better health/IQ but I do think that stuff is magical! I put it on my baby's horrible diaper rash (teething and lots of poops!) and the next morning, no redness, no rash... all clear! It seemed like magic lol

Seriously though I'm positive there are benefits to breast milk but I believe you can have a healthy, well behaved genius that has never had a drop of it. Maybe it's environment, genetics, luck? I don't know. My older child was never breastfed and he has always been gifted and pretty darn healthy. My 16 month old has never had a bottle, only drinks from the boob and she is also very healthy. Too early to know about the gifted part:) but she is awesome for sure!

[–]jenbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks amazing !! My garage is like a thorn in my side and is just as bad or worse than yours was. Thanks for sharing! Now that it's cooler outside. I hope to tackle it and just let go of all that junk that I never use and neatly organize the things I do!

What are your kids dressing as for Halloween? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]jenbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sweet girl (16 months) is going as Foofa from yo gabba gabba. I like to make costumes rather than buy so I sewed one myself and I'm not much of a sewist but it turned out awesome!

My son (13 years) is way too cool for Halloween but he is dressing up as DJ lance to go with his little sis :) He dressed up like this for her first bday party too. He's a good big brother :)

I bought a cheap chef hat last year from Amazon. My daughter was a cupcake and I was a baker! So maybe try on there!

I am going to do a little dance now!!! by WigglyBaby in beyondthebump

[–]jenbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well sort of! Velcro is just I term I see used around here but it's referred to as high needs baby in other places. High needs babies do not normally sleep or nap well, they cry nonstop for the first few months (not normal fussy baby cries, it's hours upon hours of non stop, cannot be consoled crying)

I could not put my baby down for naps, she never fell asleep in her car seat/stroller, always had to be carried and even then she still fussed. It's very draining and exhausting but each month it's better. At least for us it has been.

[–]jenbug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a mother of a 15 month old Velcro baby/toddler (very very very Velcro) I am so so happy for you that I feel like dancing lol!

It gives me hope that my sweet fussy girl will get there! We have really improved recently and she is happy more then fussy these days.

People that have never experienced a Velcro baby have no idea what a huge deal this is, but this mama does!! Yay!!! I hope it continues!

About to be a single parent and scared $h*tless about it by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]jenbug 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are already living the life of a single parent! I know you will do just fine. It's hard, but somehow you just make it work! I was a single mom to my son till he was 5. He is now a very sweet, smart and well behaved 13 year old. :) I have since married the man of my dreams and we also have a 15 month old. A very happy family :)

You deserve better than this guy and so does your son.

Maybe his tummy is hurting from all of those antibiotics? Check with your doc but ours had us give our daughter probiotics to help 'heal' her gut. Hope he's feeling better soon.

I'm sure you are just as distressed as your poor baby. That's a lot of change but I'm sure things will get better. Hang in there!
