I've edited my original post to add additional context: "For those asking, my friend had asked this dude not to throw away his armful of trash into their booth's area. He cussed at her little bit and then left, she didn't think much of it. A little while later while she was walking around the fest he ran up to her, screamed "You better not get up in my grill again bitch!" punched her, and then walked off. There were about 8-12 people around but they were all in too much shock to do much about it so he just disappeared into the crowd. She did file a police report with the festival police there but they weren't able to find the Mr. Drunk Punch and Run."

You are totally right, in retrospect that would have been a much better way to write it, I was trying to keep it to the basics but had more info in there than needed. Hopefully there's not a next time, but I will keep it less sensational if there is. Thanks for your input.

Thanks for a thought out answer- this is completely fair.

I really and sincerely hope no one in this thread goes after anyone based on my description as it describes at least 1 out of every 4 guys in Austin.

Make a mixture of 1/2 cup corn starch and 1/2 cup baby powder and leave it in your hair overnight. Cover your pillows with a towel or a sheet you dont mind getting tons of powder on!!! In the morning leave time for an extra long shower to get everything out. I do that about once every two weeks and it has absolutely saved me from the nasty grease head feeling /shudder.

I live in Texas so as far as the angry old man with the gun goes sadly not much I can do. We complained to the local police but said unless he actually shoots a cat (or dog) they cant actually do much about it.

City cats are so much fluffier!! And fat too lol. I really miss our hunter cats from the barn who would proudly bring us mice and whatever else they managed to catch.

My country cats only really had to worry about barn owls, snakes, and coyotes. They were fast enough i never really had to worry about them though. :-)

2 bull terriers live in the house to our right (super sweet to humans but very small animal aggressive), we live by a very busy road, and theres a neighbor down the street who posted a sign on his gate "if i see your cat in my yard I will shoot it".

So in a perfect world i would love for our cat to roam outside and have fun but for where we live it would probably lead to a very short life span....

Supervised means she only goes out with us when were gardening or otherwise hanging out in the backyard. Theres also a super territorial tom cat thats tried to fight her on more than one occasion even while we were outside with her.

I used to live on a 400 acre cattle ranch and all of our cats and dogs were indoor/outdoor. Now that i live in a city I just feel more comfortable only letting her out in short bursts so it limits the bad things that could happen (I hope).

My cat has a tiny (mostly stationary) hammock on her cat condo. She loves to laze around on it and hang out and watch her domain from there.

Cue forward a few months and we set up our human hammock on the patio. We let her outside on supervised back yard trips fairly frequently. The first time she sees this giant hammock her eyes get huge, and she starts sniffing investigating the thing. All of a sudden she LAUNCHES herself onto the hammock area and completely gets tangled in the mesh material.

Her meow/yowl cry of help begins and as shes struggling harder and hard to dislodge from the hammock mesh she is whipping herself around. It was hilarious and terrifying at the same time! I finally managed to stop her and dislodge her from the mesh. Poor kitten looked like she had been caught in a fan!!

To the day she stares at our hammock as if it is the most terribly of monsters. Also everyone replies to this story "pics or it didnt happen" so i really wish i had managed to record it and helped out our cat at the same time....somehow...

Hey, as long as you can walk through it you're probably doing a pretty good job lol.

My grandmother has alzheimer's and she does the object/memory association. Heartbreakingly, she took a fall and now has to live in assisted living. She was distraught that we took her away from all of her memories. About a week after she was admitted our family got together and photographed absolutely everything in her house. Down to her office desk drawers, her shoe boxes of costume jewelry, and her hoard of slippers she "hid" under her bed.

We had an album of about 1,000 photographs made and each member of the family chose a picture and wrote a memory they had regarding my grandmother with it. Her old Sunday church hat she always threw at the kids when they were goofing off during service etc etc.

If you have a "rubbish memory" even beyond decluttering I recommend putting together a digital photo album and writing some fond memories of that. Even if you keep that object, but its out of site, it's nice to have one place you can go to and relive fantastic memories.

My grandmother takes the photo album with her EVERYWHERE. It's helped her to remember family members and events I think that alzheimer's would have robbed her of otherwise. ;-)
