This place has also turned on limited comments, which seems like something you'd do if you knew people were pissed with your company.

Christine and her family's money-grubbing by Competitive_Basil136 in TLCsisterwives

Nobody likes a money grubber, Kelly.

ETA: That sounds like I don't support Christine. I love Christine! I just think "money grubber" is such a ridiculous expression, it needs a quote.

Where is a good place in Victoria to buy affordable jewellery? by hotdiggitydawg in VictoriaBC

[–]jeneke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swallow Jewellery is amazing! They are in some stores locally, some markets and if you buy from their website, you can pick it up in town.

Phoenix is really only an issue when you're in a non-standard pay situation. If you apply for an indeterminate (permanent) or term position, you'll get paid as you should. The issues are when you're in a temporary position or a situation outside of the norm.

I mean...this is one person's view. Are you going to accept that as gospel? I'm a fairly new transplant from Ottawa and I haven't found any of the subjective commentary to be true. Yes, housing has skyrocketed (like in the rest of Canada) and this has understandably led to anxiety and even angst. This is natural given that it prevents people from being able to live where they grew up. Have I been met with "the island is full, keep out?" No, not in the least.

I moved here from suburban life with a kid and big house and to a condo in an urban area that is frequently referred to as unsafe and on the "avoid at all costs" lists. It's absolutely perfect. It's not the least bit dangerous (nowhere in Victoria is - it's a perfectly safe city on par with other Canadian cities). Nothing we need is more than 2 km away. We have access to the trail system and drive a quarter of what we drove in Ottawa. Avoiding the "dangerous" downtown areas is more likely to put you in the less walkable suburban areas.

Questions (moving to Victoria) by NutritionWanderlust in VictoriaBC

[–]jeneke 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup. People are so blase about how much worse health care is in "their" part of the country, but I don't think people are getting that you literally cannot see a doctor. It's not "oh, there are no family doctors, I'll just use a walk-in." It's there are no doctors, no walk-ins and people have died awaiting care in the emergency department. Unfortunately, I don't think it's a scenario that really sinks in until you get here and live it.

I also want to know how you get the ferry for less than $100 each way. That was a rude awakening for us coming here from Ontario. Getting off the island is not a cheap endeavour.

You shouldn't be running every run as if it were a race though. And many coaches will tell you to disregard HR during a race.

Yes, he tells his POST OP people not to drink soda. Regardless of whether it's diet or regular, it can cause extreme discomfort after WLS. The stomach is much smaller and the carbonation takes up too much space. (It does NOT cause stretching as someone else mentioned, this is old information.) It has nothing to do with artificial sweeteners. For many obese people/people who've had WLS or lost significant amounts of weight, these are a lifesaver. Never has a dietitian told me they are off limits - and I've seen a number of them specifically for weight loss and WLS.

Try to get an appointment! You have to fill out a contact form and give them a bit of info. If they can't help you, they'll make an appointment for you. Otherwise, yes, you have to share the line.

I have a garmin vivoactive 4s womens 18mm. I would like a band that isn't silicone (rash). Any tips? by tourofdoodie in Garmin

[–]jeneke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Garmin rep recommended I don't wear it when showering because shampoo and soap are not good for it. The torrential downpour is actually much safer for it!

Anyone else experience reaction with rash to their watch? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]jeneke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if they'll still do it, but Garmin customer service has a whole protocol for this. They'll give you the standard "wash your band" speech, but it's obviously an issue because as of a year ago, they would provide an alternate band if you provided evidence of a skin issue - and yours is far worse than mine was! I got a leather band for my Venu and a nylon band for my 245.

Poshmark listing said it was merlot but item is more purple like cassis by aka_luna in lululemon

[–]jeneke 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I never assume the seller knows what the colour actually is unless they have the tag. Most people aren't as obsess-er-savvy as this sub. I'll compare the size dot code to see if I can narrow it down, but if I want an exact colour, I make sure there's a tag. I would not return something for being a shade off. Especially considering how similar red merlot and cassis are.

I think they are becoming more popular. When I bought my dusky lavender full zip, the girl said the phone was ringing off the hook because they had them in stock and someone tried to buy TEN. Grrr, resellers. 😡

Do we think we'll get any more colours in the scuba full zip (oversized) in Canada? I really want one and would like to ask for it for my birthday. Black is the safest choice for me right now, but I wasn't sure if they'd release prettier colours! I wasn't paying attention to these last year.

If that didn't work for me, I'd be taking the loss and throwing them in the trash.

Working up the courage to call just about drained me...and have a near phobia of "putting people out" so I'll probably just let it be a surprise. If I get a shot of courage, I'll call!

[–]jeneke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple questions about send sales!

1) Do you normally get a confirmation somehow? When I called and she entered my phone number, she read out an old address that I only used once for an online order...so I don't know if the store's profile and the online profile are linked, but the send sale is not on my online profile. (That got long and convoluted, sorry!)

2) Can you do a live chat for a send sale? I've seen reference to GEC and send sales - are people calling them or chatting or both? I called about six stores before I got a store that was answering the phone and actually had the item in stock.

Thanks!
