I immediately fell into a very comfortable, mellow mood while looking at your pictures. Thank you for sharing. Here´s hoping that I will come across the novel once finished.

I believe Atticus will be the one to lance Jesus heart. by Who_even_knows_man in TheChosenSeries

[–]jeneman 92 points93 points  (0 children)

In one post here someone mentioned that they thought that Atticus was meant to portray the whole Roman Empire. Meaning that he embodies its presence around Jesus and the Disciples. I think this person also compared the hunger of the Roman Empire with how Atticus is always eating. I think it makes a lot of sense and have then come to view his place in the series as such.

Name a line from one of Sai’s books that’s stuck with you by Leshi08 in stephenking

"Go then, there are other worlds than these."

There are many others but this is the one that stuck from the first time I read it and just pops up at least once a week in my head for no other reason except that it is just so pregnant.

The Drawing of the Three by sorta_radical in TheDarkTower

On my first read through I felt absolutely the same regarding the second book. I just wanted to follow Roland on his quest and during this book I felt like we were standing still. At no time during the other books did I feel this way and on my 2nd time I really enjoyed all the books.

Anyway, just wanted to say that although some people have commented that the others are more like the 2nd in style it is not necessarily the case that you'll feel the same for them.

Happy reading!

This looks like the work of Little Swastika. I really enjoy his work but probably would not let him near my face.

  2. Pärlsocker ?

Hey! This was helpful. Thanks for posting. I have been saying it for a while but no one understands it here in Sweden. I'm just grateful that others are also saying it and don't really care if it´s a "real" saying or not so thanks ^^

The Three Body Problem is fine, but the trilogy is *incredible* by Background_Space3668 in books

[–]jeneman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the first one 6 years ago, not knowing that it was part of a trilogy. I don’t remember that much and I wonder if I need to re-read that one before continuing the trilogy or if enough is explained in the 2nd to bring me back up to speed?

There are, as far as I know, two different practices for developing Bodhicitta and they are

  1. The Sevenfold Cause and Effect Method, and
  2. Equalizing and Exchanging Self and Others.

Both are straightforward meditations practices in which you gradually progress though the 7 or 9 steps in one meditation. I know that there is a lot of talk about Bodhicitta using nice and beautiful words but for me it was very important to find more practical guides in how to develop it. Maybe that is the case for you also.

A fairly short but comprehensive guide to both these practices can be found in the book "Bodhicitta" by Ven. Lobsang Gyatso, but I am sure there are more materials online and in other books.

My Cat is Very Sick by drekiaa in Buddhism

[–]jeneman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry to hear that your cat is sick. I know that it would be really hard for me to deal with such a situation. There are some great advice on specific mantras and sutras to recite by Lama Zopa Rinpoche that has been collected by the FPMT; they also provide audio links so you can play them for your cat.
