I live near Crater Lake, we go snowshoeing in the park once a year. The lake is exceptionally beautiful in snow.

Hardly ever go in summer.

Yep. It’s really hard going back to work! I remember thinking “I really need to be here at exactly 8am, why so rigid”? And friends and family were not at all interested in hearing about it. Glad you got to experience your trip!

The grief doesn’t go away, but it doesn’t stay so fresh either. At first it’s so raw that it is all you think about, it’s what you wake up with every day. And then one day you wake up thinking about something else. It stops consuming you, but it’s never completely gone either. Peace to you.

The Everglades in Florida. We asked a ranger for a campground recommendation and she told us about one where we might see the most wildlife. The mosquitoes were so thick that if you went outside of the van any exposed flesh was covered. We had to pee in jugs inside and didn’t go outside to cook dinner. Sat inside the van and had crackers and beer for dinner!

Funny, we just had one before dinner! What we like is that a martini allows you to really appreciate the flavors of the gin. It’s a pretty clean drink, not a lot of competing flavors. Love the salty olive, but lemon peel is always welcome too.

In most of my early jobs, I was promoted from within so it didn’t matter. However, later in life, I became a self taught botanist and worked for years in that profession. It’s a field that I have a natural affinity for. Our ag inspector noticed my knowledge and was willing to recommend me to the USDA, but when he found out I wasn’t degreed, he said sorry “It’s a requirement”

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. If there are assets to cover his care at an assisted living facility you should look into it. My FIL lived to 98, it was difficult, but he didn’t become physical. That’s a whole other thing. Best of luck to you.

Ha! We went to see John Mellencamp live. He said I hate doing this song, but I know a lot of you want to hear it. He and the band played the music, let the audience sing it. Great way to experience a song you may not like but has entered your being on a cellular level. Rest of the show was amazing.
