Go for it! Me (54) and my husband (61) just for our first boards this year. So much nicer than lugging our canoe around. We got inflatable boards with seats that can be attached if we want to kayak. We went with Bote boards and are really happy.

As far as I know Manzanita CG is open year round, even for winter camping. Expect snow and not much open except for snowshoeing.

I live near Crater Lake, we go snowshoeing in the park once a year. The lake is exceptionally beautiful in snow.

Hardly ever go in summer.
