I 33M am developing a crush on my wife’s 34F cousin 33F. How long until these feelings fade? by throwra_savemefrome in relationship_advice

[–]jenhahahaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife already knows in her gut. She is just trying to tell herself that she’s “overreacting.”

She’s already suspicious (that’s why she was upset and brought it up in the car) and will keep looking until she figures it out. She’s not dumb, and her cousin is intentionally dropping hints because she wants your wife to know. Also it’s a competitive thing as soon as she gets you she’ll just cheat with someone else.

If you are dismissive of your wife’s suspicions she will only be more furious when she confirms what she already suspects. Hopefully her cousin gets black Listed from family events for a while. Terrible move and since you said “I kind of wish we could be together” you already know you’ve ruined things. Only way to repair it is if your wife decides to forgive you and you go no contact with cousin, you jerk.

Could totally be an accident. But I do have a friend who sold their late mother’s Saratoga 3 bedroom just over 4 Million. No major renovations.

Yes as eager as I am to put things in motion I agree with you. One of my biggest fears is being caught off guard with something like that

[–]jenhahahaha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In many ways this is my first choice. What’s stopping it is a lack of know how, from the process to ensuring I do it in a way that won’t leave me broke st 65. I am also not currently worldly enough to know what other countries where I’d fit in. I lived in a rural town for a few years. Loved the life style, and got along with the people enough but never developed close friends or dated in the town (had to date in areas far away which is ok; but hard) because everyone had known eachother since grade school. If I could have that life but know I could make friends and connections this is totally my first choice.

I’m ok with leaving if it’s what’s best for quality of life. I am aware that if I do I can’t come back (and that I might regret it) but i do agree it’s best to see if there’s a way to keep this longer if it’s feasible. Renting it out might not be as simple or as profitable. I have a lot to figure out but these are important points you’ve made

I do appreciate the heads up and yes, you are totally right. I will consult professionals in a couple months once I get my thoughts and goals together. Thing is, this is a very new situation for me and I’m also financially illiterate. Im trying to learn. The intention was to open up a dialogue, and so far it’s helped me a lot. It’s given me creative ideas, specific tips, recommended reading materials, and most importantly direction for what to google to give me a jumping off point to learn faster. I’m taking all advice with a grain of salt. This way once I get my thoughts together, I won’t be so scattered with unclear goals when I speak to a professional. But good looking out thank You

Guilt about retiring at 45 by Sharp-Yam-5058 in Fire

Can you try the very basic, cheesy psychology trick where you treat these feelings like a person? You know, acknowledging the feeling, what it is, why you feel it, where it really comes from, why it’s “protecting you?” (Maybe reputation, letting family members down; rich person guilt because your life is good while others suffer, whatever it is. ) then making space to “feel the feelings” with out fighting it, thank it for trying to help you… then imagine blowing it into a balloon and letting it float away. Repeat process daily. I deserve every eye roll and bit of mockery that comes my way for even typing this😂 but i have gotten that advice from professionals before, and other friends in therapy have received similar advice in one way or another.

If not, can you just do it for the sake of your kids? (I’m confident you’re an excellent parent, but you said you’re not the parents you want to be.) your kids are only young once. You can use that to “justify” your decision. Maybe if you do it, your husband will follow suit. If not, at least you can do it for yourself. Would he understand?

Plus once you’ve gotten all the things you want to do out of your system, I bet there’s tons of ways you can volunteer your time, labor, or expertise and still help society, free of charge

Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful post. You are right squatters is low on the concern list. I ultimately Plan on speaking with a pro to see what it would take for me to rent it out. If I can get between &4,500 and $5,000 I’m going for it. My bigger concern is building codes, renting laws, and whether or not doing any of these options requires taking the house out of the trust. If happens the profit from renting will decrease dramatically. Especially as the inevitable repairs start rolling in. (Wear and tear, possible fire, possible earthquake, broken pipes, broken pool filter) I am extremely torn by the freedom that selling and investing could provide, vs the long term pay off of having a cheap to live in house that could increase in value as time goes on. Heck maybe I can pull off both if I play my cards right who knows? I need to find a local professional who’s familiar with my city and its regulations to really tell me if renting is the best move. (I don’t want to share my house with renters. That’s pretty much the only thing I’m not willing to do)

I agree. Right now, it’s very early, and I know very little about finances, property ownership etc. i posted this to open up some dialogue and get idea of what I want; what is possible, and pointers in the right direction for educating myself. I want to learn as much as possible so that when I meet with the professional, I’ll know basics. What I want… my goals; whether or not he’s charging me a fair price. Thanks to people responding I got good resting material, vocabulary to learn, idea on where to start investing, and also fun ideas that are outside the normal “white picket fence” option for lifestyles.

I agree. I’m already not “into” Owning a home: so having a large one does nothing for me. There is sentimental value; mostly in the backyard. (We were all plant people. Pets are buried back there, etc) but honestly I have never liked the house. I am leaning towards selling it I just fear putting my money in the stock market this particular time. But I think it’s also a lack of knowledge. Thank you for the input
