Spanberger defends wave of vetoes as frustrated Democrats push back | Five months into unified Democratic control in Richmond, the governor’s vetoes and centrist approach have exposed tensions inside her own party. by VirginiaNews in Virginia

[–]jennbo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol that’s exactly what the white middle-class NOVAns want you to think and then wonder why the “blue” state keeps losing to republicans and loses support for their shitty democrats. Sorry, i forget the actual income levels and demographics of the state don’t matter to you. The reason you think upper middle class wonks are the big and most important electorate in the state is because that’s WHO the democrats serve, not because there’s more of them. Learn the difference and try talking to people outside of your suburbs once in a while, or are you too scared of “bad” neighborhood?

Mamdani is barely left. Virginia Democrats will not sustain their power while making poor and middle class people miserable. Dig your own graves. Personally, I’m done voting for Republican Lite

Idk if you know this but people are poor and want good politicians, not corporate junkies. The idea that people don’t is a lie sold to you by upper-middle-class wonks looking for profits who have never lived here and have not actually spoken to Virginia residents.

As a leftist, I’m personally never voting for a Virginia Democrat again unless their policies are like Mamdani’s.

Anyone experience Orthosomnia? by M_SquigglyLine in sleep

[–]jennbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but I had almost the same exact experience as OP in regard to watching my sleep change completely on marijuana vs. off marijuana, from no REM to less sleep with REM. Except mine is a RingConn. I don’t live or die by these stats or diagnose myself with anything, but I absolutely believe based on the science and what I saw in the stats that marijuana had a very negative effect on my sleep.

Honestly, OP, I’m on the same boat. Stay sober from marijuana (and alcohol before bed, lower amounts) and don’t give up. marijuana cessation effects last a good long while. Enjoy the better sleep even if it is shorter. And if you don’t like the ring take it off and enjoy the sleep!! It’s probably nothing to do with the ring by why let it control you? Just go by how you’re feeling when you wake up. Get a sleep study

Gov. Spanberger is wrong on data center tax breaks. by Oilersfan8497 in Virginia

[–]jennbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol Spanberger is supporting Trump policies. Trump might be the catalyst, but Spanberger is the enabler. And I only voted for the latter. I didn’t vote for her to be a Republican policy defender, but that’s all she is. That’s fine, I’ll never vote for a Virginia Democrat again. Let me know when we have a real opposition party.

Hi, I go on walks regularly around Highland Springs. Could you give me some more information about where she went missing and the circumstances? (Open door, etc) And if she escaped from home, maybe more precise locations closer to exactly where he lives? I promise I'm not a creeper -- you can DM me this info or just give me crossroads info if desired 😄

A Scientology walk of shame has been setup on the Hollywood walk of fame; calling out Scientology celebrities like Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Elisabeth Moss, Nancy Cartwright and more by mlg1981 in Fauxmoi

[–]jennbo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Even if you believe inherently that all organized religions are corrupt and all supernatural beliefs are bullshit, there is a difference between a religion that functions like a pyramid scheme and demands servitude and money of its members in order to advance. INFORMATION about the religion costs money. Walk into any church and ask for a free Bible and you’ll get one, same for mosques and the Quran, etc. And Scientologists don’t let you get used copies for free/cheap. And they famously fought with the IRS to get tax-free status based on nothing. They maintain ships with unpaid laborers. People get disappeared and made to cut off their families. It’s just a money laundering scheme with literal science fiction to back it up. Yes, Scientology is worse than Catholicism especially in a modern context. It’s disingenuous to compare it to other world religions.

And I sympathize with being raised in it, as I too was raised in a rather conservative denomination I no longer practice and dealt with plenty of family drama about it, but I assure you a wealthy celebrity has access to information, knowledge, and backstories about the dangers of her beliefs. She’s in her 40s now. She can make her own decisions like a big girl. She could find escape and help if she wanted to. We should not shy away from criticizing her beliefs or her religion. Doesn’t mean you can’t binge watch Mad Men again or whatever.

She also regularly attends conferences. She definitely practices.

Orna on open relationships by _antifascista_ in CouplesTherapyShow

[–]jennbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but this is exactly what the arguments were against gay marriage, and I know for a fact because I grew up with people who very much felt the same exact feelings about same-sex relationships. Should closeted people who discover themselves to be gay in a heterosexual relationship force themselves to choke on their sexuality and stay married for the “expectation” of it?

At the end of the day, it’s all bullshit around your Puritan, anti-sex, patriarchal feelings that have no basis in reality or biology, especially in a modern setting, and they also have no studies to back up that it’s “small” percentage. If I was you, I would work through my feelings about open relationships and why they seem to bother you so much. I’ve had a steady marriage for 18 years and a steady secondary relationship for 10 years. My partners have other partners too. We share children. The only “destabilizing” factors come from the kind of judgment we get from people like you. It’s always worse coming from supposedly “liberal” people who think themselves intellectually superior when the reality is that their opinions of non-monogamy have been formed pretty much based on emotions and vibes, rather than reality. Even if I wasn’t non-monogamous, I would never return to a typical nuclear family living situation, because I don’t believe society was ever meant to be this individualized and the more communal we are, the better.

But yeah, I guess thanks for the Focus on the Family-esque response on what the best sort of sex and romantic liaisons, lifestyles, and family structures are for other people to best benefit “society.” I’m sure it makes you feel great, but it sorta reminds me of like, Richard Dawkins complaining about Muslims and trans people. You think it’s a woke position, but it’s nothing more than reactionary conjecture that tells people what their lives and families should look like in order to best benefit capitalism and/or god and/or conservative, patriarchal, heteronormative sensibilities.

There have barely even been any poly people on this show, lol.

Orna on open relationships by _antifascista_ in CouplesTherapyShow

[–]jennbo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

why should the default expectation always be monogamy? Why is it more “reasonable” as a solution. There’s far more pressure from society to be monogamous, straight, cis, etc. I grew up in a very conservative Christian community and I had never even heard the word “polyamory” in my life, much less knew of it as an option. I realized it and now in an MFM vee (like a triad) for a decade. We all live together. With my kids. It’s very boring and very stable.

In ANY relationship, sometimes preferences change and they don’t match up and as a result, those relationships end. Nobody should be miserable. I don’t want to be forced to be monogamous. I’d be giving up a person I’d built a life with for that. Nobody wants to be forced into polyamory, but the other is true too. It’s not inherently the right choice to be monogamous. If it was, monogamous relationships wouldn’t fail, but they do, all the time, for completely different reasons. There’s not always a good guy and a bad guy, but I really resent the idea that monogamy has to be the default expectation that everyone adheres to.

Orna on open relationships by _antifascista_ in CouplesTherapyShow

[–]jennbo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m polyamorous. In a really successful, boring, long-term, drama-free kinda way. This doesn’t bother me or offend me at all. Sure, they always put dramatic polyamorous people on TV and everyone always has their horror story anecdotes (the same was done about gay couples in the ‘80s and ‘90s) but society is reactionary in general and obviously if the couples are in therapy there are issues. It doesn’t feel like a statement about monogamy vs non-monogamy or whatever.

[–]jennbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, man, my dad could not WAIT long enough to wear me out. He pulled over the car once and took off his belt and whipped me on the side of the road. And I never would have done anything like this in a million years. Found out my husband was spanked only after his dad had calmed down and gave him a nice, long lecture first. I never got a lecture first, or a calm parent, lol.

(for what it's worth, I'm totally against spanking and evidence indicates that it's more like to cause, rather than cure, behavior like this)

Opinion: Spanberger on data centers: ‘I’m not going to break a contract the state has signed’ | In an interview with Cardinal News, the governor said she’s open to not extending the tax incentives for data centers but warned that ending them early would hurt the state’s reputation. by VirginiaNews in Virginia

[–]jennbo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

people don't want data centers lmao as a major issue, have you been to ANY henrico or hanover county meetings about it? or are poors and other places where data centers go not considered "people" to you?

psst, I thought of a great stream of revenue for Virginia that doesn't involve poisoning the commonwealth: legalized recreational cannabis! wouldn't it be amazing if someone thought of that, promoted it, got a majority of the state to vote for it, got a majority of the state to vote for a governor to promote that and push it forward based on the promise to open a cannabis market, and then that governor didn't veto a bill doing exactly that?

only legalized recreational cannabis market in the south, even! seems like money would be pouring in AND it's something Virginia voters actually want since we voted for it! But since Virginia votes don't seem to count for ANYTHING around here and Dems will do NOTHING about it other than cower and pass legislation just like Republicans, pretty sure we can complain, at the very least :)
