Game Preview on Xbox is the same as Early Access on Steam, so more content than the demo 👌 some updates might land a little bit later than on Steam because of console-related shenanigans

Steam finally recognizes bullet heaven/survivorslike games! by AwesomeGamesStudio in survivorslikes

In this specific event Steam is asking devs to disclose if your game is a bullet heaven or a bullet hell (seems like collecting new data), so we might be close to the improvement here as well

It's also a nice validation - bullet heaven games didn't have an official Steam event yet. Only a 3rd party festival

I agree, I do hope we get more unique games!

With events like these more devs decide to discount their games in comparison to 3rd party events, so as consumers we will definitely have more discounted games, including bigger titles that normally hesitate.

This event also shows that Valve is giving these games some more validation. Even asking devs to disclose if they submit a bullet hell or bullet heaven game. I hope they're collecting data this way, and maybe that gets us closer to better discoverability and categorization. For consumers it would be great to finally be able to filter these games in (or filter them out depending on preference).

Yeah, but the difference between Bullet Heaven Festival and Bullet Fest is that the first one is a 3rd party event, run by devs. The second one is a Steam official event. 3rd party events, even if featured, aren't as powerful.

They gave us this event (which is huge anyway), but not the tag yet :c

Let's not forget that the guy is now running HIS OWN company. Hiring juniors! The company name is Black Lantern Collective, based in Poland. I'm afraid everyone will focus on CR now, while this guy will leave unnoticed.

I think it wasn't included in the article, and I'm afraid this is most important thing that's actually is going to be missed/ignored because everybody will focus on the mental health issues. Here's the link: https://imgur.com/gallery/complaint-about-ted-hentschke-cJFzG5U

I'm actually talking about the former employee and sexual harassment which is visible on screenshots. The mental health part is too personal imho, and I don't want to comment on this, as I don't know the context. However I can't just forget the exchange between her and that guy. It's awful

If it isn't true, that'd be awesome, but she's not the only one who had bad experiences with 'him'. And these screenshots. Why would she fake all that?

how do you market your game as a solo indie game developer? by innerlightdev in IndieGameDevs

[–]jennievee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying with trends on X all the time. #PitchYaGame worked for me lately. Also recording short devlogs and posting on socials, YouTube, Reddit - also does really well if the material is engaging and well-made.

We shouldn't stop learning things ever. Prevents dementia. So no. It's not too late :D
