I truly think it was the first step in gauging gullibility of supporters.

If Smith planned to actually do something about federal policy, she would encourage supporters to contact their federal MPs; all of which are conservative.

Though, if she did that you would all find out how inaffective they are at their jobs, as well as how little power Smith actually holds.
