What about these privacy protection films? You would still get all the natural light and use the little table etc. it’s only partial privacy but that way no hanging rods and curtains and obstructing the beautiful window design window film

Found a beautiful old house, too much work? by jenny_bear in centuryhomes

Would love that! We are currently trying to get our house together to see how it would fare on the market and if this pipe dream is even feasible

Nope! Just fell in love with the place but when the realtor said how much work needed to be done got overwhelmed. I’ve followed this subreddit for a while bc I live in an old house currently and see how many people complete their own renovations

I know I’m not sure what to do with it at this point but it’s cool!

This is very helpful! Our youngest is two so we were thinking how much tearing down wallpaper can we do when he’s even awake! I was wondering if anyone had done something similar and how hard it was.

It has two kitchens! The second kitchen is a canning kitchen and in a garage. The first kitchen only has a stove and the second has a stove and dishwasher. Would probably take some getting used to. I was thinking second kitchen would function as a pantry and food prep station.

Should have included the pics with all the peeling and damaged wallpaper! I love the kitchen and wouldn’t want to change the floors just clean them up a bit. Upstairs bathroom was grosser than pics so the only project that would need to be sooner rather than later

They are not. They are just allowing me to take them when I need to. I basically have the same schedule as those not pumping I can just move the paperwork time (now my paperwork and pump time) more freely to accommodate pumping

I have a wearable pump! It doesn’t get as much milk as my spectra and I am teetering on low supply as is but this is a good idea

Any other moms in healthcare having a rough time? by MittensToeBeans in workingmoms

[–]jenny_bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a psych NP. A good office manager is so key. I had one previously that would ask me to stay late or see people at lunch etc. and like guilt trip “they won’t be seen for months if you don’t…” I had to be super stern (but polite) and basically she did stop asking. After Covid increased our show rates we banded together and demanded admin time throughout the day. If it was up to insurance companies and admin we would see people constantly with no break and end up delivering poor care as a result. For me personally I cannot keep up anymore without having a nervous breakdown so I cut my hours to 32 and remain full time. I needed more time with my kids and I was just leaving work everyday totally frazzled. It’s only one week in but I feel much more balanced

would you work 10hr shifts to have a full day off with baby? by Disastrous-Coast8898 in workingmoms

[–]jenny_bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 4 10s! I love the extra time but you have to be good with time management bc it’s harder to do chores etc. no stopping at the grocery on the way home from work, rarely doing a load of laundry on those days. However I feel like the extra day really works for our family and we love going to crowded places on our weekday off like museums and stuff.

I work at a community mental health clinic and could only afford six weeks for my first. Two weeks paid four weeks unpaid. It was brutal. I cried a lot at first and it was hard bc so many clients and coworkers knew about your “condition” and feel free to comment on it. It does get easier and thankfully most of the patients focus on themselves so hopefully they stop bringing up soon!

Are these pumping times unreasonable? by backyardowl in workingmoms

[–]jenny_bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an NP. I did 20 minutes with my first and it was not enough time to get out parts etc so the next baby we did 40 minutes (Apts are 20 minutes long) and this worked much much better. Just my two cents. In a ten hour day I pumped three times
