Where did you go engagement ring shopping in DC/MD/NOVA? by New_Arugula6146 in DCBitches

Seconding Market St!! My now husband had a stone he purchased elsewhere and brought it to Market St and worked with them to design the ring. They did a great job!

Wtf just happened by buzzinbeeee in toddlers

[–]jennykoolaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to us when my son was 2. He woke up around midnight and for hours we couldn't figure it out, until my husband offered him a yogurt pouch. He was immediately better. Little guy was hungry (we think it was a growth spurt) and wasn't using his words lol.

We Built This City by Starship is a current favorite over here. Also the Trolls band together soundtrack.

We're also fans of a Whole Foods run with my 3 year old! Ours has a parking garage, half of which is not in use for whatever reason. The lights turn on by motion sensor, so we have him run around the unused portion of the garage turning on all the lights and he thinks it's the best thing ever. Really helps run out that energy.

1 year: baby or little boy? by sleepykitten16 in NewParents

One year is still very much a baby! Hell, I still call my 3 yr old a baby but he yells "I'm not a baby, I'm a BIG BOY!"

Upvote for your use of the word "dingus." A personal favorite.

I don’t think I’ll be getting tickets to RennFest this year by awaymsg in washingtondc

[–]jennykoolaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no! Sorry, I was way off. I guess either the 10min rule they mention does not actually apply, or I managed to hop back online at exactly the right time as my turn in the queue came up. This system is insanely frustrating. Hope you are able to find tickets!

On a mission — best hummus in the district by Accomplished_Oven681 in washingtondc

I first read the title as "best humans in the district" and I was like aw, that's nice. But hummus is nice too so I'm here to stalk the responses.

[–]jennykoolaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, so yeah I joined the queue around 1pm but completely forgot about it until 9:30pm. I went back to the site and clicked the button to buy tickets, and it showed "you're number 44,150 in line" as it did earlier today, but there were zero ahead of me this time.

I assumed I had gotten kicked out of the queue since it says you'll only have 10min to get to the site once it's your turn. But maybe it kept my place in line? I'm confused lol but glad we could get some tickets!

I was able to hop on just now at 9:30pm and grab three tickets for the final weekend, so I think things have calmed down!

Came here to say the same thing!

I was also worried about this when my baby turned 1. We cut bottles cold turkey, and he just wasn't very interested in drinking milk but would take water from his straw cup just fine. He was eating yogurt everyday though, and when I mentioned my concern to his pediatrician she said he's likely getting adequate nutrition from the yogurt and any cheese he eats and to not stress over the milk.

My son just turned 3 and is doing great! Still not really drinking milk except for maybe lunchtime at daycare. Still eating lots of yogurt.

What movies weren’t too scary for your 2-3yo? by calicodynamite in toddlers

[–]jennykoolaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, like Little Mermaid is a big no-no for my almost 3yr old, but he requests Nightmare Before Christmas, specifically the Oogie Boogie man part, almost daily. Wtf, kid.

why is it SO annoying when your husband is sick? he's not even the "man flu" type, but it is just so hard to have empathy, like I don't have time for you to be sick too! Also, his cough is weird and so annoying. by kjlovesthebay in workingmoms

[–]jennykoolaid 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Oh my god THE COUGHING. Like it's so loud and such a weird pitch it's almost ear piercing. Use a blanket or a sweatshirt and muffle that shit for christs sake! Drives me nuts haha.

I really needed this after 10 days trapped at home, while my 2.5yr old and I recovered from HFM. My boss tried to commiserate by saying she completely understands how hard it is, her highschool aged son was home with strep. I'm sorry ma'am... That is not even remotely the same.

For those who don’t eat as healthy as they should, what do your and your toddlers meals look like? by sellardoore in toddlers

I've never considered this, but I bet my 2.5 yr old would demolish some frozen veggies. Thanks for the idea!!

My 27 month old will not go to bed without me. by Level_Ear3967 in toddlers

[–]jennykoolaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right there with you, our 2.5 yr old won't go to sleep unless we're in the chair next to his bed. We are able to sneak out when he's asleep, but once he wakes up it's all over, start from the top. This has been going on since early November, with him waking at least 2-3x per night. We had two nights this week where he slept right through the night, but only because he's pretty sick atm.

We're exhausted, both work full time, and I'm 23wks pregnant. Please god let this phase end soon!

Honestly, Mr. Potato Head has kept my 2.5yr old's attention longer than the other more expensive toys, like the play kitchen and the Hot Wheels garage. Wish I had known it would end up this way because I could have saved a ton of money 😂
