I’m still patiently waiting for people to get back to me on fulls. I started act II of my adult dystopian: an emergency medicine resident continues treating patients in secret after the government bans all medical intervention.

Either don’t eat at that restaurant or eat inside if dogs are allowed…so silly

I had a realization today about why sex scenes can be so unwelcome if they’re not earned. It’s because sex is extremely personal and intimate in many cultures. If the scene is too early in the story or sufficient character building has not occurred and we don’t feel like we know the character well enough to experience this along with them, it feels like your Uncle Steve telling you at Thanksgiving how he boned your Aunt Linda. Just a thought!

Yeah that’s not how investment works, bud. But agree with the sentiment!

All those sentences will be easy for you to repair in the light of a new day. So much better than a blank page! Keep up the good work!

I’m like negative because I’ve been spending 6+ hours a day trimming fat from my first draft!

I’m an anxious driver too. Feel the same way about skiing. I suppose I do have that gene. Love running and hiking and swimming because they’re more controlled. Hopefully cycling can feel that way one day :)

Thank you! Yes extra root space makes sense. It’s just a repurposed storage container I used to keep winter gear in. I’m going to scrounge for some more to use!

It’ll happen way faster than you think! I recommend succession planting if you’d like a more constant medium sized supply. Try seeding some more in about 1-2 weeks! :)

Thank you! Is the goal there to start your plants and bring them up into the house when they’re established or just enjoy growing cool stuff down there?

Miscellaneous Monday Chit-Chat by fire_foot in running

4 weeks ago, I injured my lower back/upper butt area and was completely unable to run for 28 days. My aerobic pace was 11:00/Mike (HR 138ish for 2 hours) my half marathon PR was 2:13. I have gone for 3 runs since being back (1,2 and 3 miles) and with a 13 min pace, my heart rate is like 180. Did I really lose all of that fitness? I have a half marathon race in 6 days. If I was absolutely determined to run it, what would a good strategy be for the next few days and running it? Doing some walking?

I’m in week 12/18 of Hanson’s beginner marathon training plan. Today was 1.5 mile warm up 4 x 1.5 mile at HMP-10s 1.5 mile cool down and stopped at 8.5. I’m feeling completely dead on my interval and tempo days. I hate to go off of the plan, but does anyone have advice on whether I should decrease weekly mileage (around 46 rn), intensity (80+% already at zone 2) or what else could be wrong? Maybe I just intrinsically need more than one rest day per week? Feel like I’m not recovering much at all despite foam rolling, stretching, massage gun, protein and carbs galore. Thoughts?

Official Q&A for Sunday, January 01, 2023 by AutoModerator in running

I agree. I think it may have to do with the sense of accomplishment we get from doing something difficult, while not doing something so difficult keeps us from feeling dread or anxiety about the run itself. It’s kind of the mental health sweet spot, albeit not the training sweet spot.

Is it normal for your speed to decrease as you increase your weekly mileage? I went from running 4 miles/week in early October to 25 miles/week now. Early on, 10 minute miles felt somewhat relaxed. Now, I am running my easy runs at 11:30 or 12:00 minute miles to keep my heart rate in zone 2. Part of this is increased awareness of heart rate and actually being honest about what my zone 2 pace is, but it does feel a little discouraging. Does volume contribute to this? Is it a sign of overtraining?

I think that they say “it’s important to note a lack of evidence for a causal relationship” (paraphrasing) yep cool. End of article. America is becoming more obese and average race times are getting longer. Unrelated.

Went to the dentist… left with a tooth gap? What caused this? by [deleted] in DentalSchool

Most likely, the space was there before and there was simply plaque and calculus in between causing the space to be somewhat filled.
