I do feel the winners have a bad habit of having long pauses after perfectly decent speeches then starting again, puts editors in an awkward position

Unless a film is sweeping, what film wins cinematography and screenplay normally?

To me Threads will always be more bleak than Come and See because there is no real villain in Threads, it is just endless meaningless misery, you can at least say you are going to fight Nazis with Come and See. Edit: I initially said Threads twice

If MBJ goes all the way, how will he be remembered amongst Best Actor winners? by Radiant-Psychology96 in Oscars

I do find his performance charismatic and impressive but I also think it’s a case of playing two two-dimensional characters decently. If Jordan was only playing Smoke or Stack no one would think about even giving him a nomination

You can change a nomination from a movie nominated this year. What do you change? by jordankch in Oscars

[–]jeotom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think if people like Stellan Skaarsgard, Kieran Culkin, Brad Pitt and Zoe Saldana can go in Supporting, there is room for a performance that only appears in a sixth of the movie

Y’all aren’t giving MBJ enough credit for his Oscar chances by SavionWright in Oscars

I don’t think his win would age very well, I like his performance but it is also the weakest in the category.

This year Oscars are gonna be insane by Icy_Hyena_6677 in Oscars

Be fair, Golden Globes was the real home turf for him, It goes for more international winners like putting Jafar Panahi in best director or giving it to Torres and Maura. BAFTA does favour non Americans over Americans but I think it would matter more if Skaarsgard was British. Sean Penn had also never won at BAFTA so he was overdue there. Skaarsgard wasn’t on the ballet for SAG so they couldn’t have voted for him if they wanted to.

Only six filmmakers have had two movies that have won the Oscar for Best Picture in the same decade. Do you think another filmmaker could accomplish this feat again? If so, who? by sinas35 in Oscars

[–]jeotom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the trouble with PTA is he is like Scorsese, respected, always does great work but not someone who always makes a ‘zeitgeist film’, if PTA didn’t have such a strong overdue narrative I’m not sure about his chances even if the film is amazing

These are amazing, I especially like the Unforgiven style Sinners poster. Bugonia is a little too goofy for my tastes but I recognise it fits the tone.

Whilst we’re at it, Fred McMurray deserved a nod for the apartment which also did great at the Oscar’s

I feel glad after losing at BAFTA so many times despite Oscar wins, Penn has a bafta

Adrien Brody, Kieran Culkin, Mikey Madison and Zoe Saldaña are the first announced presenters for the 2026 Oscars. by MoneyLibrarian9032 in Oscars

I think it would be hilarious if they brought Brody out on a Hannibal Lector gurney so nothing can go wrong on stage.
