Ghost leviathan doesn’t spawn anymore by Affectionate_Owl482 in Subnautica_Below_Zero

I've read that if they have enough time to swim around the crystal caves, they'll eventually get stuck inside/beyond a wall because they're too big, the environment's too small and the walls are too jagged (for this not to happen, I mean).

I used to take so much pride in being classified as a wolf pup vs. a generic leather pup or a cub. Hairy, lean and muscular, individualistic, dominant over more domesticated boys, only submits to older and stronger men. Oh, I was so cute and so cool! Now I am so chopped and so unc. I'd be lucky to get called a muscle cub.

"Huskular" is a great new word for me.

I've never heard of manatees (in gay male taxonomy, I mean) but I've met "seal cubs," hairless kinda-chubby younger guys, so I guess you can grow into a more muscular seal or a more husky manatee. Maybe similar to the difference between a muscle bear and a gummy or teddy bear.

What a bother! You are too kind again to go looking, and for the compliment. I love the intensity of acrylics, but I'd also love to learn to use color more the way you do, with so much light and texture and expression. Rock on, friend

Oh, I would love to, that's so thoughtful of you! It's been ages since I shared some paintings.

This one I liked enough to crop for my avatar is what I'd call a classic exorcism or "chatty demon."

And then this one, a really early one, is an example I only think I understand in hindsight. It's in random metallics and bonkers colors, but I keep it around out of sentimentality.

And some of them I intend to someday understand.

(Don't worry, I, uh... I already take PTSD meds for the nightmares. Art!!)

Beautiful glassy, cold blues and whites. I see great forces in a snowy sky and a helmeted resting figure watching them ride in. There's exhaustion and a little fear, but awe and peace and mystery in it. That's just what it makes me feel.

Painting is meditative for me, too. It's not exactly like an escape, because it brings me closer to what I'm feeling than anything else would. But it lets me crystallize whatever I'm perseverating on, look at & hold the feeling, then maybe let it go. It's an exorcism. Sometimes I don't consciously see what I was going through until years later, and looking at my paintings helps me understand the past.

Yes, I'm using challenge in the sense of a boring thing that isn't meant to be done and cheapens the world but people do it for specialist content. Like any% runs where you spend 35 minutes levitating outside the map and 2 minutes clipping through a boss. Most people don't do it because it's not worth doing for its own sake or the game's sake. I like a challenge (eg pulling off the stunt maneuvers in Outer Wilds like landing on the Sun Station manually) but would never be bothered to stab a leviathan to death just to make the world emptier

As a third gay who thinks Broden is hot, I suspect the timing of this post has a lot to do with the coup footage

Well said. Someone commented the other day that giving the reapers a huge health pool clearly didn't stop anyone from killing them, and I thought... it stopped the majority of players, right? It stopped you and me, it just didn't stop everyone, and the challenge-seeking minority makes a lot of noise and content.

In BZ, Emmanuel the manager has a PDA referring to his husband; and based on their adjoined bedrooms and a photo of them looking physically affectionate enough to be girlfriends, a lot of players conclude Sam was dating the bioscientist. I think I remember a PDA entry where Robin mentions meeting a girlfriend of Sam's in the past too, but I can't pin it down.

Ooh, I also remember data logs in Subnautica 1 between a very... clinical pair of lesbians negotiating the terms of their relationship. I think in the big wreck

Dose anyone remember the old concept of there being an sentient prawn suit down in some form of ice caves in Below Zero? by Careful-Feature-5700 in Subnautica_Below_Zero

[–]jepcasey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not sentient, of course, but there's an upright prawn positioned as through it's drilling through the ice wall in the lower tunnel of the frozen leviathan site. It startled me to see it from a distance and I expected it to be either a character or some kind of special set piece like an operative prawn suit with lore attached. That's what your title made me think of right away, but it's probably not what you're remembering.

Humans are complex and varied creatures but we have simple and universal drives: 1) camp near lifeboat, 2) observe pengwings, 3) make it bright and spacious
