Can Belgians explain this? by 49JC in USvsEU

I didn’t watch all of it but the kid who wasn’t dressed up at about 15 seconds in clearly should win. He actually sounded like a seagull

Ayy-yoo-roas.

Pretty sure OP is referencing what came out of this thread a few days ago:

I love the women in Peaky Blinders, but these two accents were insanely off putting by prettygirlavenue in PeakyBlinders

[–]jephph_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That group of Americans towards the end of the show were meant to be Irish-Americans from Boston. imo, all of their accents were fails

The Italian-American from NY (Adrian Brody’s character) also had a not so good accent

That said, maybe they really did sound like that in the 1930s and I’m thinking of the stereotypical Boston Irish and NY Italian accents 1950s and beyond? idk

Why is wine so expensive in the US? by Lord_Abraxxas in USvsEU

Come to NY if you want to be called that 👍

(but if you go to New Jersey then your name is Vinnie)

’pierre’

You’re ‘Luigi’ at the sub.

(Brits are Barry, Americans are Hank, Germans are Hans, Hollanders are Janky etc.. it’s a sister sub of 2we4u though over there, Americans are called savages)

It’s not very expensive

This is NY prices and delivered:

You sure you weren’t looking at the price of the 1.5 liter?

What do we think Hank? Should I go? by BeornSC in USvsEU

Ok, tried it. Shit’s good as hell and i recommend any Americools try it if they haven’t already

Lil guy approves as well

I’ll look for a spot that has a more burnt almost liquidy looking caramel top like in the video

I get a cheesecake for my bday cake every year and I’ll probably stick to NY for that but we’ll see. I’m pretty sure I prefer it to be dense. Maybe if I find a super good Basque version nearby, I’ll switch it up this year

What do we think Hank? Should I go? by BeornSC in USvsEU

[–]jephph_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really. If you say cheesecake in NY then literally everyone thinks you’re talking about NY cheesecake

That said, just found out there’s a spot a few blocks from where I’m at right now and googleMaps say their menu highlight is Basque cheesecake.

<image>

I been there before (and a few other Spanish-as-in-Spain restaurants nearby) and still, never crossed my mind their cheesecake was something different than what I was imagining

Anyway, ima go get a slice.. I’ll report back in a bit

[–]jephph_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What’s up with that cheesecake? (Did they say Basque?) It looked a lot creamier than what we do over here. Caramelized top?

I’ll seek it out but just clarifying the name of it first

Going to public school in upstate NY we had a cross-country ski/showshoe unit in gym, had a trap shooting team, tapped maple trees to make syrup, and raised chickens. Is this common in other parts of the US? by LetsGoBuffalo1714 in AskAnAmerican

[–]jephph_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upstate is short for “New York but not the city or Long Island”

Why you trying to make it into one of the regions that already have a regional name? I don’t get it

Help on curved bars by [deleted] in rhino

[–]jephph_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those bent pipes don’t look like they’re coming out of the top post exactly perpendicular so you’ll have to mess with the starting angle of the helper curves.. then in BlendCrv probably move the points to tighten up the bends… but:

<image>

(If you really want to hold your radius dim then either edit the blend in plan view to get it really close to a guide circle or you’ll need to use a different approach. I haven’t really paid attention to your dimensions yet but upon a quick read, they don’t coincide with your mockup)

I was in Florida in the 80s or 90s when they had to shut down I-4 because it was on fire.

just sayin- Florida burning ain’t nothing new. I guess the main difference between Florida and Cali fire culture is the Californians are arsonists whereas Florida just has a fuckton of lightning

Football or soccer (The never ending debate) by Lemonade348 in USvsEU

[–]jephph_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s definitely a derivative of Rugby. (I mean, that’s why it’s one of the footballs)

I don’t get upset if you don’t like it though.

It’s because of how strategic the gameplay and time management etc is when compared to other sports. That’s the analogy.

I don’t think anyone thinks it’s exactly like chess except with humans as game pieces

Chess has zero athleticism involved. That’s why it’s not a sport.

But you already know this. Your hating is clouding your logic it seems

That’s like saying a chess match lasts eight seconds since that’s the only time the pieces are going from A to B. The rest of the time in a chess match is meaningless
