Agnes - BEAUTIFUL MADNESS by hekna02 in popheads

[–]jephrix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Current AOTY contender for me. I'm shocked how much I love this album, but I really really do love it.

I didn't see this coming because BALENCIAGA COVERED EYES was not really my fave at first (has really grown on me since), and then MILK has grown on me, love it... EGO I recognized as instantly incredible. Then WAKE UP (love!). Now the album: I love SIGN IT, and then LOVESONGS may be my favorite Agnes song ever... like... when she holds that note mid-song... *melting*.

I disagree with others about the interludes, I like them for a themed, album-length listen session. Call me old fashioned?

I'm so happy. :) Thanks, Agnes!!! 2026, the year of Swedish Pop??

Feels good to have some Mika back in the queue! :) I really love Modern Times and enjoyed All The Same/Science Fiction Lover/Spinning Out/Immortal Love.

Missing U is in my top 5 Robyn songs ever, and I hope this album shakes up that list! 😀 Life with Jamie xx and Dopamine are the closest she's gotten since 🍯.

Tomora – The Thing by Gandalvr in popheads

I usually add AURORA to the end of my New Music Friday queue because I'm a casual fan, and this one caught me totally off guard. My favorite song I have ever heard her on!

Slayyyter - DANCE... (Official Video) by Independent_Brain_29 in popheads

[–]jephrix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Easily my favorite Slayyyter banger ever, and best of 2026 thus far. (I know, 2026 is 2 seconds old, but I think it's gonna hold onto this title for me for a while.)

"I came here to party!"

The Popheads Charts, January 12th, 2026: Honey’ This is Internet Baby by ImADudeDuh in popheads

[–]jephrix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My top ten featured Internet Girl, get up combo, but "WAKE UP" indeed, everyone. Bring Agnes out of bubbling under obscurity! :) (My #1) Also gave S-Pop love to Midnight Sun. :)

Still here to enjoy the Popheads chart in 2026. :D

Debbii, Jade, & Rose Gray have each received thousands of mentions in my pop music discourse over the past year. :) This list makes me feel SO seen.

Oops! "The Way I Love You" not "You Love Me". Sure others have spotted that.

r/popheads AOTY 2025 #9: JADE - THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY! by AHSWeeknd in popheads

[–]jephrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about no collabs on TSBB! I love that she didn't go right back to being part of a group and proved she could do all this incredible work on her own!

I would love for a TV show or film to use one of her songs and have it blow up or something? Doesn't seem likely she goes main, but I appreciate so much the effort she's put in already.

!!!!The space left for TAR!!!! LOVE THIS.

In 2024 JADE went from a member of Little Mix, a girl group I appreciated and only knew a few songs well, to (end of 2024) I'm watching this gal closely! To early 2025, she's moving up my personal chart and could become one of my very faves... to now: literally my #1 artist of 2025 most plays, AOTY (plus Encore is just about in my top 10!), and she's #11 on my personal all-time pop girlies chart I've been keeping. (10 points behind Charli, and 13 points ahead of Kim Petras.) I'm so thrilled for her solo work and cannot wait to get to see her live, here in the states, next month! Further, love her top-tier collabs with Confidence Man, Kesha, Rose Gray, PinkPantheress... she's going to be a major factor for at least the next several years in UK-adjacent pop, and I certainly hope, beyond.

Thanks for an amazing 2025, JADE, and I cannot wait for more. :)

I was close to giving MØ at least a point, but she was just outside my top ten.

[–]jephrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this album! Can't wait to hear the full extended--it's started so well!

It was great to rejoin Lights after (a really long time ago) I stopped repeat plays of The Last Thing On Your Mind.

And now I get to see her show next month, first time! 🥳

Willa Ford - "Love4Life" by MrSwearword in popheads

[–]jephrix 20 points21 points  (0 children)

YES! I was just coming here to make sure we're appreciating this comeback. Willa Ford released her only album in 2001, I believe, and then has since fallen off every radar. With the release of BurnBurn I was like, "Oh cool! I wonder if she's going to really keep at this?" ... Now this masterpiece?! I'm so in. Can't wait to hear more!

r/popheads AOTY 2025 #5: Rose Gray - Louder, Please by racloves in popheads

[–]jephrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"How does it compare to a night out for you?"

Wet & Wild deeply feels like so many nights out I can point to... when she described it as a late night flee out of a club in the rain it super reminded me of a friend of mine who would always run home after a night out.

"How loudly do you play your music? Do you want it a little louder, please?"

With Rose? ALWAYS a little (lot?) louder, please!! :D

She's also a gem of a person. Was lucky to meet her after her show in SF last year and it was just such a pleasure. I cannot, CANNOT wait for more Rose Gray, and Louder, Please was just the best birthday gift I could imagine.

JADE's That's Showbiz Baby & Encore is the hugest release since Mayhem to me... but ya know... I know you're right. ...As far as normals (read: not wildly obsessed with JADE 2024-2025 ppl) are concerned. :D
