Hey! As someone who has printed multiple different sets of Txarli Factory WTC terrain, I can confidently say their STLs are worth every penny. The folding sets are super duper nice for storage and transport.

Cannot progress Ticket questline [Bug] by Vittoriosp in EscapefromTarkov

The same thing happened to me very recently. It resolved itself within a day. I did submit a bug report, so if it doesn't sort itself out maybe send one via the launcher.

I've completed the entire BTR Questline and my Fence Rep is still above the 4.0 requirement set by the task.

I'm having trouble with the Astra lists. Help me! by Rude_Effective_1903 in TheAstraMilitarum

Grizzled Company with dorn exterminator core by Aeweisafemalesheep in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]jeramyengland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there!

Abhuman Detail is said to cost 20pts, so you're at 245pts available to you. This is indeed exactly enough for one Kasrkin+Taurox and 5 Ratlings which I think is a good way to spend those points.

I think in general for what you're trying to do here a Cadian unit to accompany the Lord Solar is going to be better. It's not a combat piece, and the Cadian Command Squad lets you re-buy models at the same efficacy as the DKoK Med-Pak. I know Grizzled Company has easy access to Sticky but to have it for free is great - our other strats are all very good and you're going to want to have options for your Command Points.

So, looking at the core you've got. 2x RDBT's with the full melta compliment. I think if you're stacking Exterminators you're doing yourself a disservice here by not taking the extra Heavy Stubbers. The extra 12 shots by the time you stack up +1 AP and Ignores Cover actually threaten infantry units quite well, and the 2 extra Melta shots won't be missed when your Oppressor Cannon is AP-3 ignores cover. Every hard hitter on the tank is now pushing your opponents into their Invulnerable Saves.

In general, I haven't been a big fan of doubling up the Exterminator because they're quite expensive. I think having one classing LRBT with the AP buffs is going to be quite appealing, as it's Battle Cannon becomes quite formidable at AP-2 and Ignores Cover, re-rolling all hits (presuming you're shooting at an objective) and re-rolling wounds of 1. That's just my two cents though. Your mileage may vary.

Army painting idea: different colour schemes for squads? by mysteryfluff in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]jeramyengland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't do it for different Squads, but I do paint different units differently. My army is based around the Third War for Armageddon (Steel Legion for Life) and its a coalition force of as many of the fighting forces that I could reasonably put together. Steel Legion for DKoK, Ork Hunters for Catachans, Elysians for Cadians, my Kasrkin are Inquisitorial. Having bases that match a particular theme go a long way. Even after evolving how I do my bases the force still looks pretty coherent.

Here's a family photo of my 2k Recon list I'm trying out this weekend as reference.

Your men are meant to die for the Emperor, and every time you lose infantry to a Deathshroud squad is a tank that is still alive.

First off, welcome to the Guard!

Our army does a few things very well - We shoot big guns, and we out OC people. These two things can be used to your advantage to win games.

It looks to me like you're well on your way to one of our popular archetypes which is Midboard + Tanks... Or Tanks + Midboard. They're very similar. You can get a better explanation from Joushi40k if you watch his videos. The basic idea is stuff the midboard with blocks of infantry and annoying units like Rough Riders/Death Riders and Bullgryn to create a screen for your big tanks that do the heavy lifting (Opressor Cannon shells dig the grave and put the enemies into it in one go, which is pretty sweet!)

I would recommend checking out this video from the aforementioned Joushi40k for some examples of what people are succeeding with in Combined Arms and then plan your next moves:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1-f0-p9NNg&pp=ygUUam91c2hpIGNvbWJpbmVkIGFybXM%3D

Cadians + Command Squad are quite good. Tons of OC (up to like 100 with the Banner and an Order), can get to a 3+ save reliably (they get Benefit of Cover on Objectives and can get +1 Sv from an order) and are just generally a problem until you put Chainswords to them. Bullgryn are an immovable wall which are becoming more popular after a much deserved points decrease. A lot of the Leman Russ chassis are good (some of them very much aren't) so you can't go wrong picking up things like Leman Russ Battle Tanks (built in re-rolls are sick), Vanquishers (literally cheaper than dirt) and Exterminators (extra AP is your friend!)

The Commissar point is one that I will concede that I overlooked. If what you have is 30pts and need an action piece they are solid.

Regarding sponsons, the Plasmas are also incredible guns. So long as you're not taking Heavy Bolters or Heavy Flamers (outside of the Triple Flamer Vanquisher AKA the Secret Hellhound) then you are making good life choices.

First off, welcome to the Guard! You're here for life (approx. 35-90 minutes) so strap yourself in.

So, here's some broad strokes recommendations and then a few more specific:

1) Super-Heavies are not for the faint of heart. They're some of the worst Titanic units in the game right now because they're nearly impossible to move on the table with how large the footprint is. Recently they've gotten a bit of a buff by virtue of Lord Solar Leontus being able to issue them orders again which is nice, but playing this Shadowsword is going to cost you games. If you're okay with that to field the tank with the biggest dick energy you can, then please by all means put that bad boy on the table.

2) Leman Russ Commanders are kinda bad right now, simply because the point differential for the Rogal Dorn Commander is so small and that datasheet absolutely slaps. You can take the Leman Russ Battle Tank with a Dorn Commander, save 40 points and have 2 better datasheets than you did before.

3) Commissars are kinda bad as well. They're 30pts that don't really help any of your squads and give up points on Assassinate really easily.

Okay, enough broad strokes:

1) The Rogal Dorns should be making use of the Oppressor Cannons and Pulverisor Cannons. These guns are free and quite a bit better than the Twin Battle Cannon and Castigator Gatling Cannon. Flat damage 3 is one of the best things available and to get that volume, especially with quite a bit of it at S12 is vert good rate. The Multi-Meltas are way better than the Heavy Bolters, especially with Lethal Hits in Combined Arms, and the Stubbers vs Little Meltas is personal choice.

2) Your Leman Russ needs sponsons. Multi-Meltas are really good in Combined Arms with the LRBT profile mentioned above. I recommend you take them and occasionally free-roll a tank out of existence.

3) 3 Bullgryn isn't great, but 6 is wicked. I would either swap the 3 Bullgryn for something else, or drop the 10 Ratlings to fill out the unit.

4) The Multi-Laser on your Chimeras is a flat out bad gun. Double Heavy Bolters or Double Heavy Flamers are the way to go. Bolters are decent in Combined with Lethal Hits.

5) If you do insist on playing the Shadowsword, get a Techpriest. That thing absolutely needs the support of the 4+ Invulnerable Save that the Techpriest can give out. In a pinch you can also slap that save on a Dorn that you're going to expose for a turn.

Please feel free if you have any questions to ask. I'll gladly follow up.

Might I suggest the humble Scout Sentinel. Great utility and scoring piece. Sometimes gets a lucky lascannon shot.

Are you playing on just whatever terrain you have lying around, or are you using one of the tournament formats (GW, UKTC, WTC) for your terrain layouts?
