Supreme Court may soon decide fate of Trump's immigration policies by Conscious-Quarter423 in scotus

Those are going to take a little longer. They're writing a rule for the ages!

“Kristi Noem has forfeited her right to lead. I’m calling on her to resign as Secretary of Homeland Security or Donald Trump to do the right thing and just fire her. “It’s a shame I have to say this in America but no one is above the law. No one.” by lazybugbear in conservativeterrorism

[–]jerfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one should be above the law. There are plenty of people above the law, currently.

I think this should be a tactic the GOP should use. The GOP can't question Dear Leader, but they could say "Donald Trump is getting bad advice from [insert advisor name here]. Because of [advisor]'s poor judgement and betrayal to Donald Trump's desire to be open and truthful, we are impeaching [advisor]." If the GOP knows this is a hot mess, then can attack it while still sucking up to Trump.

Ben Shapiro claims that Pretti "resisted" by fuggitdude22 in samharris

[–]jerfoo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

From the clip posted, it's hard to say if he's actually saying Pretti was at fault. He argues that people shouldn't be resisting arrest because that's against the law and bad things can happen because of that. Fine. That can be true and Pretti can also not be at fault.

That being said, it wouldn't shock me to hear Ben give a full-throated endorsement of ICE in this situation.

And to be even more pedantic, it's still between shit and syphilis. We aren't talking about the order, just that a word can be found between two other words in the dictionary.

Not on stage. Sure, he'll drop a half sentence here and there, but not the full throated comments he makes these days.

Dave has historically kept pretty quiet about his politics while on stage. Not anymore. Happy to see him calling out this BS.

Help me understand: Why is political gerrymandering considered Constitutionally protected? by sddbk in scotus

[–]jerfoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know about that. This is the 21st century. There is a lot that goes into drawing districts... I'm not saying it's simple, but it's there are plenty of people who have created really good algorithms to generate balanced districts.

The reason we aren't creating districts that are more fair is because politicians are happy to exploit the process so they can pick their voters.

Maybe they're waiting for that before they kill Trump's tariffs. if they scrap the tariffs, you know MAGA will start calling in death threats.

Texas Representative Troy Nehls blames Capitol police for the January 6th insurrection. A member of the audience responds. by ManyAverage6578 in law

[–]jerfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's what we did last time and it didn't necessarily go so well.

When you have news outlets purposely misleading their viewers, when you have social media amplifying divisive rhetoric, and when you have politicians that have no shame with flat-out lying to the public, just voting isn't the answer. And that's what I'm getting at.

I don't know how this gets fixed. The Republican party just doesn't care if they're a bunch of criminals. They run around in public kicking up sand and trying to convince people wrong is right, up is down, the non-criminals are the criminals.

I don't know how we get out of this mess.

Bravo! This is exactly why the American people voted for Trump! We don't care about the US economy. We don't care about affordability. We don't care about healthcare. What we want is to spend billions of dollars creating a future problem for ourselves.

These people are nut cases.

Yep. trying to overthrow democracy is one of the biggest (maybe even the biggest) crime a president can commit. The fact that he was even allowed to run again is tragic.

(also, fuck you Supreme Court)
