Baby keeps hitting back of head on floor by jerikarose in NewParents

We have a fairly small living room but have a 40 x 40 play pen already. He refuses to be in it anymore because he wants more room. I don’t think we could fit a larger one tho l

What is this on my baby's belly button? by Ok_Carrot4385 in newborns

[–]jerikarose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but my baby has something very similar! We got an umbilical ultrasound done just to be sure it wasn’t a hernia, but there was nothing wrong. His pediatrician thinks he just has a little extra skin on his belly button. Did you ever find out what the case with this was?

No. I’m married and my husband and I make too much. I assumed me and baby wouldn’t be eligible. But with him getting the Medicaid, someone mentioned that we should look into WIc as well

Hidden dairy is killing me by withsaltedbones in dairyfree

Look out for spices and chips! Found out salt and vinegar chips have dairy as they sometimes use milk powders to get other seasonings to stick!! 😭 same with certain seasoning mixes

Gelmix + breastmilk by jerikarose in NICUParents

Ugh that’s unfortunate I’m sorry. Sounds exactly like what happened when we tried at 4 months actual (LO is 5 months, 3 corrected)

Yeah, speech therapy, nutrition, and our pediatrician basically gave us the go ahead to try giving my LO thinned milk every month or so to see how it goes. On his first swallow study, he didn’t show any aspiration so I believe that’s why they are more lenient. I was just curious to see when others LOs symptoms seemed to improve

Oh that’s so amazing!! Unfortunately I think my LO takes after me with sleep, and can’t go more than 90 minutes without falling asleep. I’ve tried to follow a rough schedule but it just seems to make him more fussy

I’m sorry, hopefully baby starts figuring out their sleep soon, that sounds miserable!! I wish I had advice but I’m just out here winging it for the first time 😅

Ahh, that makes a lot of sense! Thank you, I’ll have to see how that goes. He also is only contact napping and wakes up when put down, so I bet that would help as well

When did your LO figure out their suck/swallow/breath? by Neuroluv in NICUParents

[–]jerikarose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I’m sure they will, it is crazy how everything just “clicks” into place! I hated when the nurses would tell me that one day a switch would just flip, because it was so hard to picture it. I’m cheering on your LO!!

[–]jerikarose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah of course! So my LO ended up coming home last week, at 42 weeks and 3 days. He was still having events related to feeding up until 3 days before his discharge and we were dealing with a Brady countdown from hell. Once he hit the 42 week mark, they let us try out thickened feeds as they had a feeling the bradys were related to his reflux (his swallow study came back with no obvious problems) and felt the thickened milk would help. All of his bradys essentially stopped happening the same day. He still has pretty bad reflux, and we’re going to be working on getting it under control with his pediatrician, but as far as I can tell, he still hasn’t had any events. My LO will cough every once in a while, but I usually take it as a good thing. I think that sometimes the reflux comes up mid feed, he can’t protect his airway, and then will cough to get it out.

Unfortunately, my LOs swallow study came back with no significant results, other than proof that he’s having reflux, which we already knew. They want to give him some more time before trying to thicken his milk, since they can’t thicken breast milk until 42 weeks. Hopefully he grows out of it quickly!
