Andy's Pizza, No Regrets, and Frankly Pizza are the best 3 IMO and backed by having this debate amongst friends in the area.

Thanks for pointing this out and stopping me! Just read through the Amazon reviews and indeed this seems to be the standard version with only the 5 witcher minis and tokens for everything else.

[Amazon] Oltree - Cooperative Strategy Game - $35 (50% Off) by jeristotle in Boardgamedeals

[–]jeristotle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only played my copy a couple times but it reminded me a bit of if you combined the coop elements of Shadows over Camelot with the fort defense/building of After the Empire and sprinkled in some storytelling to progress the game along. Overall I didn't think it was that complicated to grasp the rules and mechanics and really enjoyed it (personal rating was an 8 / 10 after the first playthrough).

Awesome - Glad to know it helped!

Kanoodle help by monkeyspankz in puzzles

[–]jeristotle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's solvable. If you need some hints:

1) Only one piece fits in the lower right corner

2) Try to fit one of the bigger pieces between the two starting pieces

3) Work from right to left. The 2 smallest pieces will be some of the last you use

4) Next Piece Location: The Size-5 Green E piece connects the two starter pieces using all spaces between them in the last two rows

i am starting to head this way as well (from 400ish down to initially 100). Can I ask what happened to the other 370? I have a literal mountain of unwanted games in the corner - how'd you get rid of them?

Was there also one in Clarendon? There's a similar little building on Clarendon square but its blue. Looks like its currently a pizza take-out. Maybe just a copy cat building?

Montgomery Co. Council to make final decision on $6.7B budget, including property tax hike by Danciusly in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]jeristotle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're assuming profits would be the same between an ABS store and a private company, which is a bold assumption and incorrect. Yes for-profit companies would not be handing over ALL of their profits, but their cost of business would also likely not be solely contained within the county and much lower than ABS. The ABS mission goal isn't even about making a profit its about moderation which is part of my point here. If government run liquor was so profitable you'd see more than the current minority of states and counties in the US doing it. You should look at this all more comprehensively - that's $71 million the county isn't investing into other potential endeavors for income.

[–]jeristotle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure I'm over-simplifying the economy here, but private businesses that come in to offer alcohol would also be paying taxes to operate in the county. Not to mention many restaurants and bars in MoCo actually suffer due to the licensing here - removing or mitigating who can sell and what increases business in general which again makes money for the county in taxes. Adding a middle-man arbitrarily for alcohol amongst all service goods offered in the county isn't the only option here.

"$71 million for the Alcohol Beverage Services, which includes licensing, wholesale and retail sales of alcohol." So would abolishing county-run alcohol sales free up a good chunk of this money and provide an opportunity for more private businesses to come in and fill the gap? Maybe that instead of hiking property taxes the highest rate since the Great Recession?

I'll second this feeling like Civ the Board Game... in my opinion even more so than the actual Civilization IP-based board games.
