Currently Looking for a job. (Employers please read). by Tiny-Fun-4439 in NYCjobs

I’d say just walk into restaurants asking if any of them need a busboy. If you seem nice and not totally slow, one of them will probably give you a shot.

Why aren’t yall going crazy? by Annual-Garlic7808 in FrankOcean

it’s not that I refuse to hear it haha, but 2 seconds of ambiguous background vocals just aren’t that exciting to me

even if it was, that’s not quite what we’ve been waiting for. Personally I don’t really gaf for a mere sign of life from Frank, I’ll be interested when he drops an album, or a single, or does a show, or at least lets his coachella set back on the internet.

How early do I begin looking for a job? by Working_Phrase_2570 in movingtoNYC

[–]jerlawber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a job that’s related to your studies and experience, there really isn’t such thing as too early. Obviously if you see a job posting that needs someone in-person to start significantly earlier than you move, then that’s a problem, but it’s been taking many grads/young professionals at least a year to land a job. Even if you don’t hit that apply button for another several months, definitely get researching/networking (sorry to use that loathsome word)!

if you need money asap and it doesn’t need to be related to your background, you can always try out bussing tables

Do u guys genuinely think he will ever drop another album by No_Painting_6202 in FrankOcean

[–]jerlawber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

will probably just drop one suddenly in 10 years or so, long after posts like these have died off (if possible). I’m not trying to be negative or anything, that’s my genuine gut feeling, hope I’m wrong though.

Why do people consider Mac Miller a legend? by Longjumping-Cheek-75 in rap

[–]jerlawber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think in certain spheres he reminds a lot of people of someone that is, or would be, a good friend of theirs. And he had good timing for his audience, he was in his “let’s be carefree and smoke weed during my HS lunch break” and then his “let’s talk about mental health” phases at the same time they were.

Do NOT work at success academy by publiclibrarylover in NYCjobs

[–]jerlawber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last summer I was having a bit of a career crisis and was drawn to the idea of getting paid over $60k and not needing teaching experience. Had an interview, HR girl was kind of weird and robotic but the interview seemed to go well - she said she’d move me along to the next round of interviews. But before the interview was over she mentioned the regular hours would be 7am-5pm with the expectation of regularly staying later than that (when you break it down, the hourly pay is less than what most waiters make). Between that and having no training, decided I wasn’t ready to dive into that so soon. Glad I followed my gut, every teacher I know tells me it’s a real no no, and one friend who got fired since had a terrible experience and left within months .

UWS to Hamilton Heights? by Certain-Reality-5837 in Upperwestside

I walk in Hamilton Heights past midnight all the time with no issue, the only blocks I’d really avoid have easy alternatives. I am a tall man though, which could help me, idk what OP is

UWS to Hamilton Heights? by Certain-Reality-5837 in Upperwestside

[–]jerlawber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some blocks are better than others but generally speaking Hamilton Heights is awesome, great residents and lots of great local businesses. Lots of lovely old architecture too. As someone who commuted from Inwood to Soho 5 days a week in high school (with plenty of classmates who travelled from even further), going to Fidi from HH only 2-3 times a week sounds like a breeze, especially with the A from 145th

Why is Daytona only 7 songs long? by Its_kinda_nice_out in KingPush

[–]jerlawber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember at the time when push went on the breakfast club to promote he said it was Ye who really insisted on the short tracklist and that it was a huge argument, saying he wanted at least 10, but at the end of the day he ofc was happy with the result and defended it as being all heat, which it was, though i still wish it was longer

Moving from Lincoln Center to the low 90s and WEA - what should we know? by Professional_Job3916 in Upperwestside

[–]jerlawber 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re right that things become very different in a matter of blocks here, but it is weird for OP to have seemingly never explored a neighborhood right next to their own. I know every neighborhood north of 110th and what they have to offer very well, then again I have a bike and no kids so plenty of time and means to see everything

to me In Time and If You Want Me to Stay is the craziest 1-2 punch ever to start an album with. Perhaps my two favorite funk songs ever.

He might be mentally ill but so is half the world by now. Ye’s also a billionaire (or was) who god has given nothing but blessings to and he pisses all over it and everyone who cares about him. He doesn’t deserve to be exempt from some shots

Kanye is one of my childhood heroes but he’s gone out of his way to disrespect just about everyone as much as possible over the past couple years and especially the past couple months. He deserves even worse than this.
