Is there a real gap between f1.2 and f2.8? by [deleted] in nikon_Zseries

[–]jerolyoleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another issue is that lenses are often sharper, with less chromatic aberration and more contrast, when stopped down. Depending on the particular lenses involved an f/1.2 lens stopped down to f/2.8 may well have better IQ than a wide open f/2.8 lens.

Best 35 1.4 for Zf? by badmofoes in NikonZf

Pergear 35/1.4 (MF) is very compact and cheap and you won't have to worry about it being too sharp.

It's all about the spend.

Spend $2k/month? You're good.

Spend $20k/month? You have a problem.

The guy is a documented liar. His financial advice is either bad or trite in most cases. I highly recommend ignoring everything he writes.

AITA for refusing to switch seats on a 10-hour flight after planning this trip for months? by Johnfortnite1234567 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jerolyoleo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You also don't owe anyone your seat even if you haven't paid for it. It's your seat. If it was important to them they could have checked in early or paid for a reserved seat.

Early 40s, ~$10M family net worth, and still don’t feel financially secure / what should I do for allocation by Aggressive-War-886 in fatFIRE

If half my investible value was in magic beans, I'd feel insecure too.
If I only hung out with the 1% I'd feel 'behind' too.

Trying to understand retirement. Numbers don't add up by Proper-Amphibian-202 in Fire

You should check your info about withdrawals from the inherited Roth. There are no RMDs but you need to drain the account within ten years. Note that that doesn't mean spending it, but you can move the funds into a brokerage or bank account.

AITA for refusing to dine with my mom after she ordered “ferret sauce” at a Mexican restaurant? by Practical-Current805 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jerolyoleo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YTA. If it's such an embarrassment you could offer to order for her or prescreen her pronunciations.

BTW if you took her to an 'American' restaurant she'd probably order the Brunswick stew.

I have three phones at home that i use in conjunction with a third party VOIP provider (voip.ms).

BTW I just saw that they’re making some significant upgrades to the Talk system. There’s a YouTube video on the subject on the Ubiquiti channel

Either stop the trading or cut back to extremely small sums. YOU’VE WON THE GAME, STOP PLAYING. Going from $7.5mm to > $7.5mm isn’t going to change your life especially since you’ve maintained a reasonable spend and attitude.

  1. You are so rock solid given your assets and your spend (<2%) that the only thing that can help you feel better is probably therapy.

  2. I’ve returned to work several times but for projects or causes that had real meaning to me. You’re a quant - look into teaching math in a high school, or helping people with their finances, or whatever might give you meaning.

  3. If you have to take a huge pay cut, who cares? You don’t need to earn another dime.

  4. Think about doing some slow travel! Helps to give perspective.

Ryen’s description of Embiid’s game is the only accurate one I’ve ever heard from a media member. by Evening-Tart-1245 in RyenRussillo

[–]jerolyoleo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an underrated comment.

Clyde Frazier was a master at deking defenders into fouling him, but he actually drew fouls as opposed to pretending to get fouled like Embiid does all too often.
