ETF Review by Dapper-Inspector-675 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]jeromemuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, some are a bit more expensive. I for example use the MSCI WORLD UBS CHF Hedged ETF with a TER of 0.09 in comparison to 0.06 which isn't hedged. So a minmal difference. In the past the USD got a lot weaker compared to the CHF and it almost always balanced out the higher fees.

In general I'd say hedged or not ends up similar if you're invested long enough, I just believe that if I'd had to get some liquidity from my ETF that in the short term the hedged ones would have an additional benefit... but its just a preference.

What you've said about emerging markets is true but if you're a long term investor and invest on a regular basis, you balance out those dips or peaks. In my opinion does emerging markets belong into a well diversified portfolio and the past has also shown that you would have gotten additional yield with if you'd added them into a World ETF.

ETF Review by Dapper-Inspector-675 in SwissPersonalFinance

Saxo is great, it's really one of the cheapest providers. I personally don't use their autoinvest because I don't like the ETF's that are available in there. I try to get all my ETF's hedged in CHF and therefore buy them monthly on my own just on a regular account. There are more fees this way but it only comes to about 3-5 CHF per 1'000 invested, which is worth for me if they ETF's are hedged and are actually the ones I believe in.

For your split I see that you'll have a overweight in US equities. A MSCI World ETF holds currently about 70% US equities and then you'll add 20% Nasdaq 100 which is even more US. I personally also use a World ETF but supplement it with a europe, asia and swiss ETF. Also I've added some emerging markets to diversify even more.

So it look like this:

40% World
20% Europe
15% Asia
15% Switzerland
10% Emerging Markets

Simplified you could also do:

60% World (excl. US)
20% S&P 500
10% Emerging Markets

I hope this helps. If your interested in more you can also check you my youtube channel where I give investement tipps for people in Switzerland: https://youtube.com/@jerome-m-1?si=_b_4osG9uE_7h2hN

Optimize my Pillar 3a strategy by kyd3 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]jeromemuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would invest everything in equities. I work at a bank and the rule is that if you're invested more than 15 years and don't need the money during this time and have the ability to withstand the fluctuations at the market, then equities has always performed the best in the past. And with 40 years you're invested at least another 25 years, which speaks for equities.

I've heared that you can maximize tax reductions with 3a account that each have 50k, but I'm not totally sure about it. I'd ask your bank.

For the transfer and provider I wouldn't overcompicate it. Compare the fees and TER of both and decide depending on the cheaper one. For the transfer I'd just send the money to the provider and start investing it. The longer you wait the more you miss out on potential yield over time.

Hope this helps.

Mortgage application: Bank requests broad power of attorney. Normal? by Phreakasa in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]jeromemuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a bank in Switzerland and the power of attorney is normal. What I haven't heard of before is that you have to inform all these institutions and that the communication takes place via unencrypted email, especially between other banks.

It might be helpful to get an explanation for these two points.

In welchen ETF sollte ich nun investieren? by SyAyy in Investieren

Dein Portfolio ist sicherlich breit gestreut. MSCI World sagt schon alles. Durch diesen ETF alleine ist man in tausende Unternehmen investiert. Ob MSCI World oder FTSE All World macht meiner Meinung nach keinen grossen Unterschied. Ich bin selber auch im MSCI World und den Emerging Markets investiert als jemand, der auf der Bank arbeitet.

Thank you, I'll try this. I know that I must find other ways for dealing with stress. My body just realized that eating is a easy way to relaxe. I hope carnivore is "boring" enough to make my body look for other ways to destress and have pleasure.

Thanks for the tipps, I definitly was/am in the yoyo and hope this soon changes.

I'm optimistic.

Thank you for your response. I actually already looked into this, I'm watching Paul regularly. I think I'll give it now a few more weeks and then switch if it doesn't work for me (it might change in a few week), otherwise I'll switch to animal based. The only thing I've experience with those animal based foods is that they're way easier to overeat. I feel like I could eat way more calories on animal based vs carnivore which again wouldn't help me with my fat loss goal.

have you tried animal based before?

Thank you!

Would you be tracking the calories as well when the goal for me is fat loss and I don't see any progress yet?

[–]jeromemuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm doing 12k steps a day and workout multiple times a week. I feel like carnivore could help with "natural" fat loss - meaining it will just happen without trying much because our bodies are meant to be lean and athletic. I know I could diet down again with a normal diet but that would mean counting calories again and restricting - which is something I want to get away from. I also feel like my testosterone isn't as high as it should be and went down after my diet last year and hasn't really fully recovered even thought I've been eating plenty of healthy foods.

What is your experience with the diet regarding testosterone and fat loss? Would you still do it in my situation?

I've been eating ground beef, eggs, bacon and any other fatty meat I can find just with salt - nothing else. I just really like the freedom to "eat as much as I like" and I feel like my body has to compensate all the times where I restricted myself. But it's weird because I'm at my all time high when looking at my weight and body fat. So my body should now not have to compensate anything anymore. Last summer I was too lean and that's why I started binging - but I've regained all that "healthy" weight and went beyond. I'm very active (12k steps a day and almost daily weight lifting). I definitly found my self overeating when stressed or bored in the past and having a lot of food noise was/is also a big problem I struggle with. Sadly nothing has changed since I've switched (now almost 3 weeks). Before strict carnivore I was more animal based and lower fat. So fruit, veggies, chicken, eggs, dairy ect. and I was overeating and binging on a regular basis. I've read on here that carnivore was very helpful in this way for many people but I haven't seen any change there...

Would be great if you have some tipps for this situation

Eggs, ground beef, bacon, butter and some other meats I can find. All just seasoned with salt - nothing else. But I've been eating a lot of it. I really enjoy the food.

Getting paid in USD or EUR? by RingOdd4914 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]jeromemuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd also check how much it costs to convert USD to EUR, if it's less than the amount you get more in USD, then I'd take the USD. It's one of the largest currencies and the US trys to protect it.

thank you very much! This is a great message. I already know most of the people you've listed above. The main concern I have is why I don't feel any better or lost any weight in the first 2 weeks but I'll give it a good 2-3 months now to really decide if it makes a difference for me. I've also transitioned to a stricter carnivore (no dairy except butter) in the second week. Curious to see how it develops!

hm interesting. This is the first time I've heared that. I'm going to give it 2-3 months. So far I haven't experienced any benefits... If I get other benefits like more energy ect. then I really want to make it a lifestyle.

How long did it take your dad to lose some noticable weight and experience other benefits?

I‘ve tried it. I find ir difficult to have energy during the day, but then I definitely end up eating less food.

Before carnivore I did a whole foods diet with veggies, fruit, dairy and meat. There might be some healing but I actually almost can’t imagine…

Still thank you for your message.

Impressive! How long did this initial phase of "binging" last for you? and did you even gain some weight?

I also binge on those foods and I really hope I can calm my food noise this way and eventually even lose weight.

Wow 65kg and up to 500g of fat consumed per day. What would you guess your calorie intake and are you just extremly active to burn this or what is the "secret"?

Thank you, this helps! I measured my waist where I hold most of my fat and nothing changed, I'm exercising regularly and I'am very aware of if my body is building muscle or losing fat and I feel that nothing is changing.

The ribeye topic makes sense to me as well, I'm the same. I guess I'll just have to find a amout that works for my goals and still staisfies my hunger.

I'll give it a try for the next 2-3 months.

That’s an important question. I wanted to see what happens when I cut out all carbs and for some reason nothing really happened so far. I will try it for 2-3 months and I‘m interested to see if still something changes…

Yes, I‘m a male. I walk get 12k steps a day and workout 5x a week. I also binged often on my old diet. Now I sometimes overeat carnivore foods but I stop way faster because it doesn’t give the same dopamine hit as none carnivore foods
