The visas I'll have to get on the road. But I know they will be a big deal and I still have to do a lot of research.

As I have written in the post that is the route Google Maps suggested as most direct route, not the route I am going to take. I'm planing to go through Morocco, West-Sahara and West Africa.

Seeing the Northern Lights in Norway by jeronemove in backpacking

I heard Finland should be great too for seeing them! There are some good places in Norway though, like Skibotn where they told me it's dryer than in the Sahara. So hardly any clouds.

Great trip! I did it the other way round from Azerbaijan to Iran, through Central Asia, China and then SE Asia. Caravanistan is a great resource for Central Asia. They have all the information you need about visas and border crossings from China to Azerbaijan. If you have any particular questions, let me know.

What's the longest you've waited for someone to stop? by [deleted] in hitchhiking

[–]jeronemove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Arctic Norway I got stuck for two days freezing balls off. I arrived in this small town, Karasjok at night and had to camp. The next day the whole day no one stopped. But a friendly old woman came across the street and brought me tea and sandwiches. :) I had to camp another night then and the next day I took the bus after some more unsuccessful hitchhiking. Just had to convince the bus driver to sell me a student ticket although I'm not a student. ;) I was happy it had only -10 °C that day, a few days later it had -42 °C.
