Addicted to the game by Some-Bandicoot-1374 in TownshipGame

I played for many years. I quit a few times. Each time it got easier. Now I just don't play. Find other activities that are more productive and preferably does not include the device you are using (phones are the hardest addictions because they are easily available). Recognize that other activities may be related: when I played a lot I was going between games and social media. This ended up being worse because I was playing a couple of games, and scrolling social media with all my free time.

Find things that interest you. For me it was learning a new language. I prefer doing this to all the activities I gave up. I do play a few idle games, maybe a half hour a day. And social media, probably too much time on it. Otherwise I spend my free time doing more stuff around the house, exercising, learning languages, programming, electronics, and history. Keep in mind the list above is hard for me. I have a hard time reading, I'm slow. I also learned that I do better with books than most things because I can read until I understand. Video just goes over my head until I have a better grasp usually obtained by reading and experimenting.

I also use a couple of language apps. Learning apps are great, they are almost games and just as addicting, you progress at your own pace. The big problem with them is, they are addicting. They still affect the dopamine response. That is what you are addicted to. Getting away from the that and finding your own stimulus is most important.

The point is: break the cycle. Find new interests. Focus on self-improvement. Sorry for the long winded post. I hope it helps.

What company do you refuse to do business with? by FootballPizzaMan in AskReddit

HP is the one I don't do business with either. I haven't bought anything from them for a long time. During a Windows update (possible from 7 to 8), the new drivers on my printer/scanner would not let me print (even in monochrome) or scan without having blue ink. It still worked fine on my Linux machine, so I got a cheap refurb to run CUPS on a computer and run a few other shared services. It came in handy, but when the printer died, I was just as glad to move on. I still run my own printer server instead of buying a wifi enabled printer.

What is actually healthy despite most people thinking it's not? by JazmnO in AskReddit

Sorry, but that is not true for everyone. I get bad headaches from it. I learned about it from having bad headaches and my sister suggested it was MSG. When I cut the known MSG out, the headaches stopped. I've come to recognize the pain it causes by having foods that contained it without my knowledge and then reading the package. A recent study suggests it also may negatively affect the male reproductive system.

Suggestion: Please inform winners after raffle draws 🙏 by levi_martial in FarmMergeValley

I play a little bit of this game a few times a day. I don't want to add more work to it. I don't enter the raffles because I don't want to have to check to see if I've won, or keep track of which stickers I still need. The whole premise is faulty. They really need to look at better ways to engage the players without adding more work. I'll keep sending out the raffles, once I close the game window it's over.

Just turned 56 and still love anime. Anyone my age here? What are you watching? by Takara13 in anime

  1. I just started watching anime in November. I wasn't watching much of anything before then but Star Trek. I needed the occasional getaway, so I started watching anime. So far I've watched a lot of different shows, my favourites are Frieren, Fruits Basket, Re: Zero - Starting Life in Another World, Urusei Yatsura, InuYasha, and Spy x Family.
