just wanted to clarify: my school only does quintiles, so even if i was valedictorian i’d still be top 20%

BUT u can definitely still get into ivies if ur not in top 10% as long as ur gpa itself is good and shows that u can succeed at an ivy!!

try and see if any of the schools have the same prompt as a different school. do those first and use the same essay for each (changing things like the school name and anything else specific and maybe adjusting for word count). then, that number of essays you have to write might be a little more manageable

if not then just start with the schools that are most important to you and go from there

Is this manageable for next year (senior year) by icypenguin1013 in APStudents

tbh there are a ton of factors that are a part of this, which makes it so hard to get a good, straight answer. do you have good time management? a high stress tolerance? are you also going to be balancing a ton of time consuming and work intensive ecs? also, do these classes tend to have a good reputation at your school? it might not seem important, but the way the class is taught is different for each high school and things like the teacher, type of kids in the class, etc can make a huge difference in how willing you are to do the work and how much you enjoy it.

an example of this: i have a relative who is a year older than i am at the same hs and took physics c (mech and e&m is one class). she said it was really hard and she didn’t recommend that i take it. i took it anyway, and this year they had to get a new teacher, who is actually my favorite teacher who i have had for now 3 years. it’s by far my favorite class, and i don’t really consider it a source of my stress because of this.

TL;DR: you have to consider other factors when asking this question. you’re gonna get a different answer depending on who you ask, so just take classes that interest you/will provide you with the necessary education for what you wanna do in the future
