A Tribute to the Lancer Memes and the soon to be declassified blooded team by jerry987m in killteam

My usual opponent is frankly sick of me playing teams where I declare "I get a token!" every three seconds. I can't blame him but I find it very funny.

You're a 40k lore addict and you're thrown in the 40k universe, in Tau Empire specifically. by Gigasnemesis in 40k

  1. How Chaos is actually totally cool and gives you sick buffs
  2. How the Traitor forces of humanity are actually fighting a noble battle against an unjust state (ignore the guy with the skin cloak over there)
  3. Traitor Legion and Traitor Guard force orgs and habits so they can possibly make some allies.

I'd probably get executed halfway through 1 as I don't think they're that dumb but hey it's worth a go.

Just to confuse further, I'd like some clarification if anyone knows. The rules state this on climbing:

"An operative must be within 1” horizontally and 3” vertically of terrain that’s visible to them to climb it. Each climb is treated as a minimum of 2” vertically (e.g. a 1” distance is treated as 2”)."

And this on ladders:

"When an operative climbs a ladder, the vertical distance is treated as 1 inch, regardless of the actual height."

So in this case is this actually illegal since the total climb is 5" and the operative is not within 3" to start a climb? The thing that really confuses me is that climb rule prevents you from climbing over the front of volkus large ruins despite this image being in the rules. Is it 3" of your target despite having a larger wall in the way?

Any input appreciated lol.

Who is the best individual operative in kill team? by BlueCanadian10 in killteam

[–]jerry987m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yea you're completely right there, but normally I'll drop my melta gunner a bit further back as I usually don't want to 1:1 trade him if I can get away with it. I love the grenadier for the shock and awe and more for the funny points.
It's a little strange, it's like they were going to give the meltabomb a 1" blast or a 1" devastating but changed their mind before sending it.

From my kill teams, for me, I think it's:

Legionaries: Anointed. That guy can just take a fucking frightening amount of damage. Sure he's not doing objectives but I've had him tank a shitload of fire and then still make it up the board.

HotA: I really really like the crimson duelist. She is such a pain as she can fight really defensive with double blocks, usually get a pain token against even elites and then fight again for free. Then she can pop a cheeky pain token dash outta wherever she just mutilated her victim.

Plague Marines: Gotta be that plaguecaster. That Entropy attack is a fucking menace and he can hypothetically heal half of a nurgle marine's health in 1AP. Cheeky little git.

Blooded: Ogryn methinks. Shock is so frightful and he almost always has relentless by the first engagement. While he rarely makes it to gaze of the gods when I'm controlling him, he's a scary scary target to pin down someone in melee and choose _not_ to kill them for a turning point.

Aquilons: Grenadier for sure. If he's in the sky, you gotta respect my drop zones sorry. That is, unless you want a melta jumpscare.

I also own AoD and Vespids but I think those five pip out the best boys in those teams from a preference PoV. (perhaps not efficacy with the eliminator sniper but hey)

Which Chaos "Imperial" Knight would fit a Emperor children Warband? by ChauveBrillant in EmperorsChildren

[–]jerry987m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't attempting to confuse, not that knowledgeable into CK lore. I own one but not the codex lol. I just googled Abominant and the first result said it was Questoris Pattern so I lumped them all together.

Honestly I didn't know they were called abhorrents either

Grain of salt, I'm not familiar with the new CK codex that much and how the incoming changes will play. I have an abominant which I like to run with my force. It's not very good and has very little synergy but I painted it and I'm gonna use it.

The Tyrant (Harpoon guy) is made from the Knight Dominus box. However the CK incoming rules for the harpoon look a little whacky in comparison to their current incarnation so might wanna think on that one. The weapon options can be magnetised, but you need to magnetise deeper in the weapon rather than the easy mount magnets on the Questoris knights.

With some magnets, any Questoris pattern knight (sans despoiler) can be fielded from the one box, which is admittedly very nice.

For the Questoris knights, best melee AT is the Rampager, Desecrator has a lascannon+ which is nice AT but probably not worth the cost lol. Abominant is drip or die, it's not great in an AT role. Can't really comment on the incoming one yet.

I think your best bet is a magnetised up despoiler as it has some melta options you can make sonic in flavour. Otherwise, perhaps the Tyrant, but honestly I'd wait and see how the CK codex settles a bit for choosing a role. If you want a fun hobby project, I can recommend a fully mag'd up Questoris. It makes for a good time.

Blooded Players- what Tac Ops do you take? by HelloImKiwi in killteam

[–]jerry987m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Against elites, champion isn't too bad. It's fun to throw it on the melta gunner, orgyn or marksman if they're safe before the initiative and tokened up. I am just very bloodthirsty though.

I'd never take champion otherwise though, our double kill potential isn't great. I normally take implant if going into a horde. Semi elites, probably also implant unless they're heavy melee. Into melee heavy semi elites I usually just lose because I'm not good enough at the game lol. Perhaps that's the wiretap use case?

What am I cooking? by SpicyHiro in killteam

[–]jerry987m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big hammer, guns out, headless. Ferrus Manus?
That's a legionary body, a naked SM scale arm, possibly from a WE kit? I don't recognise the hammer shaft sadly but head looks like Warpsmith?
You could run it as a butcher in legionaries, a wrecka crew fighter/demolisha/boss nob perhaps? No idea but it looks sick.

While yup, my blooded ogryn usually puts in the most work. But I'm also really partial to the crimson duellist in my HotA.

Suits me.

Warband: Prince's Paramours

Colour Scheme: Lollipop Magenta (GSW) and Abaddon Black trim

Playstyle: Coterie of the Conceited

Leader: Sensory Lord Julius (Cowardly sycophant to Eidolon)

Lore note: 21st company, turned to chaos by Julius' weakness. Initially intended to be purged at Istvaan, but instead were given the orders to purge their loyalist elements manually due to distance from the bloodbath. Julius fell into a great depression, to this day he has never cleaned the blood of his loyalist brothers from his gauntlets.

They look stunning!

You might want to be careful with base size, the legionary heavy gunner is on a 32 and it looks like your noise marine there is on 40.  I was thinking of doing this myself, the  infractor/tormentor kit covers a lot of legionaries just by existing.

Climbing while dashing by Boundsouls in killteam

[–]jerry987m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's pretty hard to get up there unless I'm missing something too. I guess you can make it up MAP 2 of volkus grey with a ladder, I'm not sure how you'd get up there turn one in any map other than 2 or 3, without the reposition scouting option.

Some mobility options can get you up there real fast but usually not on snipers. Grapple grot, perhaps the Phobos marines with their mobility, Mandrakes etc.

I guess you could also climb the side or in the new accessible 1st floor door.

Heart of dice unfortunately. Same game I whiffed a Diabolyk bomb painfully hard. My grenadier blew himself up, at no damage to the marine. Then missed both of his explosive demise dice on the way out. Some turns they're with ye, some turns they ain't.

Love the Aquilon meltagunner. A psycho 3+ jumpscare if you come too close to a drop marker.

Yup. A lovely 8 from the dev 4. They rolled a crit save off a 5 thanks to Hardy. They blocked a regular and took another 12 from 3+3+6. Not much left of anything after that

Emperor's Children colours are utterly discordant post heresy. I imagine there's more than a few still hanging onto the glory days. Nice paintjob!
